In the year 3304 we use machines called limpets to perform various tasks assisting space vessels. Although these limpets are roughly the size of a lunar lander, they require a separate, mother ship computer to operate (weighing up to 128 tons). Although all limpets can perform a variety of tasks, an additional mother ship computer must be added for each task EX: collection, repair, decontamination. In the year 2018 we have handheld computing devices that can remote pilot drones the size of a basketball. We have microprocessors able to perform tasks ranging from pattern detection and object avoidance to adaptive AI. We can send basic HF radio signals with a radio that can fit in a backpack that travel great distances. A limpets can only receive a singnal from 2.8K away max. So why are limpets so terrible? Solution: all limpets perform all tasks and are programed from inventory menu. No Limpets controllers. Limpets return to ship upon completion of their task. It's 3304 come on.
