35 million credits

I'm just back from a round trip to Sagittarius A and must confess I'm slightly disappointed to have only made 35 million credits.
I was hoping to reach explorer elite status, but I've got 150 million credits to go!
Think I will head back out to that neutron star/ white dwarf cluster that I found near the core, and then on to the far side of the galaxy.
I should be back before Christmas

Exploration ranking shouldn't be money-dependent but number of visited systems and number of detailed scans dependent and obviously number of 1st scans dependent (discovery + detailed scans).

ya, its a bit strange that only payment is counting not the "work" for it. But hey, we are in a capitalism space as well ;)

You had better luck than me. I was almost at the core when I've fallen asleep and smashed into a star. Had to get back to civilization, badly burned, only with 9m on my pocket. If i want to get rich with exploration, I must quit my job. I've spent almost a month out there.

I think the value of the scan is meant to represent that.

35m for ~2000 systems means only 17.5k, which probably means very little scanning.

Ns grinding is, well, grinding. I needed an emergency 35mill to crash my elite level so went grinding ns. Never again. I feel nearly as dirty as when I dumped the data for easy independent permits. Time for a shower just thinking about it.

I'm in my Asp and I've been on the Scout for about a week. I've got the detailed surface and top-tier system scanners and I've been scanning everything that's marked "undiscovered". It's a long, tedious job but I like being out here with the possible first set of human eyes to scout a system. I haven't found any Earth-likes but I've found quite a few that are "Terraforming candidates". I'm staying away from the center of the Galaxy, because it seems that's the beaten path. I'm going strictly for "off-road!" When I get back, I'll post how I did.

Currently 1000+LY away from the last Human outpost. Haven't seen another PC or NPC since then... Ah... The quiet....

This^ perfectly describes me as well (except I use a Hauler). I scan everything and avoid the beaten paths. If I want to see what the galactic center or GA look like, I just find the pictures here. But considering how little there is in exploration at present and considering how frequently explorers are being interedicted now, I'll be putting this game on the back burner for an indefinite period of time once I turn in my data for the CG (assuming I even can).

Last night I explored several systems in my usual way (scanning most objects; I figure if this was 'real life' there is absolutely no way I wouldn't scan every single body in a system. I do skip asteroid belts though).

Anyway I found that the expected credits per hour from my night of exploring are about the same as if I was trading normal commodities in a hauler.

I realize that I can improve this by skipping most objects, but I don't WANT to skip most objects. Exploration needs a major buff in credit returns.

Does the level of dirtiness depend on how you go through the NS field? I'm not feeling dirty ; I'm exploring in the NS field right now. Other than being in the NS field, and choosing to go to NS/BH systems most jumps I don't find it that different to regular exploring. Some systems I'll just scan the primary and move on, others I'll scan a lot more. I just flew over 100kls to scan a white dwarf, which takes a lot longer than jumping to any of the nearby WD primaries.
