360 game pad problem

since the update rolled out, i have been having an issue with my game pad.
when starting the game seems to be the issue.
pad is functioning correctly. yet when the game first starts it is somehow switching my pad to a secondary pad and is no longer in control.
i have tried removal and reconnecting it fails to put the pad back to 1st controller.
removal of drivers fails to correct the issue.
the only way i have been able to get my controller to work is to reboot my system.
any of you guys/gals any idea how to fix, rather than rebooting.

I use a Wireless Xbox360 controller and it works perfectly fine. Ive never had an issue with its operation within ED for several years now.
I wouldnt think its the game, It might be, but from my perspective nothing about the previous updates have changed anything about how it works.
Win 10 however... You have that right? So maybe its an update there which has caused this.

sorry i'm using a wired pad.
when i start the game my pad switches from 1st controller to 2nd the game uses pad one. i only have one pad connected.
that's the puzzle.
i have also tried resetting the pad by holding ctr button for 6 secs. that just brings all app functions up.
the wireless issue i know. needs to be on before starting the game.
