360 video export

First I want to congratulate all developers with the great work they are doing.
Planet Coaster is coming together as a really awesome game!

Planet coasters unique capabilities for theming and ride customization already show off at Youtube during the Alpha.
Many users have created great parks and show off their creations on their Youtube channel.

How cool would it be if Planet Coaster has some basic video tools (creating steady shots) and above all, 360 video export.
It would be so cool to capture for instance a ride on a rollercoaster, or even better follow a character around, in 360 degree video capture.
This would enable a wide audience of viewers to be emerged in Planet Coaster creations on youtube, and enable creators to engage a wider audience with their parks.
Bonus: With Cardboard VR anyone could experience the ride as never before using youtube 360 video.

I am looking forward to your reactions!

How would this work for people without VR equipment?

You can watch YouTube 360 videos on most modern smartphones [happy]

You can watch them on your desktop too, you just drag the camera with your mouse (much like you'd do in game).

I'm not sure about the complexities of implementation, but it would help to promote the game I'm sure.

Is there a video somewhere showing this?

Here's one a theme park related one:

Also didn't know you could move around with the mouse. Thanks Lurker.

I had searched the forums for '360 video' but it came up empty, i think it is a great idea.

I really think Planet Coaster could create a hype around this and be the first to support such a thing natively on youtube.
Marketing for the game would basically be done by the community as a wide audience can experience hands on first person in game imagery.

I am wondering how hard it would be to actually implement this feature in the Planet Coaster (Cobra) Game Engine.
Maybe one of the devs can comment on this?

I think it would need to be a separate mode or app, like I mentioned in my thread, so the rendering could be handled in the background. Mine wasn't titled 360 video, but it was a component of the director mode I was suggesting. Basically said the same thing you're saying here, even down to the idea of youtube videos serving as advertising for the game.
