38 mins to deliver to Hutton - is there any point?

So I got a Secure data delivery mission to Hutton... and my contact gave me 38 minutes...

Obviously this is impossible, but nonetheless I am 1/3 way there. Is there any point in doing this, will it be a straight fail or is there a twist?

I'd just carry on now - there are two rare goods at Hutton Orbital, so at least you will get something out of the trip, apart from the satisfaction(?) of having done it!

I never quite understood why mankind decided to set up camp 0.22LY away from a parent star without setting up several outposts on the way to A.Cent B. CAn you imagine the length of time to haul resources for building a station there?

I have a list of stations that are over 200,000LS away, where I won't accept a mission to deliver. They can all starve, or pay a whole lot more to haul stuff! :)

Yup might as well.. 3 tonnes of mugs and some dodgy hooch!

You took a mission going to Hutton for only paying 3000cr? Crazy....:D

Well to be fair on me it was 3150 crs and they never said where, just meet some bloke called "Vedar" for further details.
Needless to say if I see him again...

This is why prices should in part be based on a stations distance from the star. It makes sense that things would cost more the harder it is to deliver them

It never is worth it to go to Hutton.

To me even if they paid more for certain goods it would not be worth it unless their pay was unrealistically exorbitant.

If they had a unique ship for sale, or unique weapons or modules, or even if just the station was something unique and spectacular... then it might be wort it.
But currently I see no reason to visit these far away stations at all.

I had been thinking of trying to reduce the time to Hutton. Since the FSD computer accelerates up to about the half way point then begins to slowly decelerate as you approach the target destination, I thought that unlocking from Hutton when you reach max speed would allow you to continue in FSD at high speed and shorten the trip time. Keep an eye on the distance from Hutton with the left navigation panel, then lock back on when you get close.

I think in-universe it was one of the first station outside of Sol, and people thought Eden is totally worth it. Now only a research outpost is there, and an uninmportant orbital, since it is a hellhole. It sorta just became a backwater. And having it's own nav beacon would just not worth it.

If you unlock hutton from your destination but still point at it you still decelerate :( I have not tried with Hutton but other systems that have far away docks.

That is because of the gravity well of stuff in there. Same as what happens when you zoom past a planet, just not as violent. Also it would be no fun to cheat down THE travel time to "that one station known by everyone". It is its whole charm.
Also it would be a nightmare backtracking to a station you just buzzed past with 1000+c. It is bad enough when you just miss the blue area.

You might still get a reduced payout and rep from the mission giver. Some missions will be a straight fail if you miss the deadline others will give a second chance with more time but with less reward
