391K for Platinum?

Can someone kindly explain how some carriers are offering up to 391k for platinum when I've been trucking the last 4 hours between all the high paying stations an the best was 279k? Am i missing something... i thought map mining was meant to draw the most dosh but i spend SOOO much time looking through all the stations to find I've been beaten too it..?...it hardly seems worth it no? what gives.... some exploit driving the price down or something.....

4 hrs to map
2 hours to figure route to fit cargo hold
1 hr to perform
9 hours searching for best price
approx 8.6m per hour....hmmm did i hear someone say it was 180m per hour..... must be hearing things :/

if these prices are still botched in 12 hrs still, i might just do that - but with out the missions...

Don't get me wrong, i've had a go at everything and clocked 5.8b; map mining is(WAS) by the far the most profitable ... now i come back round to it i'm only getting frustrated i've wasted-ing hours...

....back to Robigo mines!

I mine a few days a week in play time. It keeps my carrier, and my squadron running. I can make, on the average, about 100 million an hour. Can you do better? Sure, but, I like to fly and mine casually. Works great for me. Core mining, laser mining, surface mining, doesn't matter, I like to mine. As far as the carriers, who knows. Sometimes, markets haven't updated, sometime, people use them to transfer money to other players, like, over the weekend, my son was playing ED on XBOX and needed some credits to build, yup, a mining ship. I sold him some platinum at the lowest setting on the market, then bought it back at the highest. 200 tons netted him 150 million credits in an instant. You might be seeing entries like that when they haven't updated.

1 Because there offereing a money laundering service for clans members and friends cross-platform...
And the only way to do so is via Fleet carrier usage....
They exchange goods at one value and then sell goods at the same value... to other players acting as the broker.

This Replaces Tea bagging as that can not be done cross platform...
The risk is that Others see the items and take the units instead...
Due to not puting the landing Restrictions to friends only...

2 because there acting as bait for those wanting to gank players in open... Nothing easier than setting a high price getting silly miners turn up in open then gank them as they arrive full and leave with rebuy...

3 They never altered the price since the Price crashed out of the markets...

So you're taking 16 hours overall to fill your hold in an optimal pattern and sell to the highest sell station, with only one hour of those actually mining, and made 140 million?

As opposed to (let's be generous) doing ~8 suboptimal mining runs in the same time (90 minutes mining whatever runs in front of your lasers, 30 minutes travelling and selling) at maybe a quarter to half the money per load - but 8 times the volume?

So, taking your numbers here - map mining will win, of course - but only once your setup cost (time) goes down to maybe twice your mining time - not 15 times as you wrote. Problem is, unless you can spend a lot of time in game, by the time you managed to play those 40+ hours, the BGS has shifted and you'll need to find new stations to sell to.

If you have less time to play (but can leave your rig running), AFK bounty farming is reported to be similar efficient as mapped mining. And as with mapped mining, I'm pretty sure the streamers or whoever promoting this scheme are glossing over the setup time as well (in this case, building and engineering an AFK turret boat and then peddling all the nearby systems for suitable pirate massacre missions).

Those carriers, though... have you ever been able to dock on one and actually sell your stuff, or are you reading those numbers from EDDB (or wherever, as I just now couldn't find any carrier offering more than 200k)?

EDDB or Inara will give you a best price guide in about 9 seconds. Somewhat quicker than 9 hours
EDDN will only give the best reported price. As with the carriers, the actual price when you get there may well be different by the time you get there. I can't shake the feeling that those "180 MCr/hr from mapped mining" streamers also have developed their own way (via BGS state observations) to find high(er) sell places and are probably not reporting them to EDDN.

i was using Inara - i went to every station and the prices were wrong/not updated
Search BULK SALES TAX or wait for some one else to copy and paste, if you can't be bothered and just want to whine, to realy Know how Bulk trading works you have to read up on bulk sales tax in the game...
Short version is the bigger the CARGO rack is and the more full the LESS you get paid per ton... Inara list ZERO ton PRICE and Delivered past high tonnage prices,,.
the lower price is the higher tonnage.... The higher the tonnage you arrive with thats nearer the demand the lower you get paid...

I did exaggerate some what. Since the mapping part is over its not going to be the same evetime I'm aware of that. It works out to 250t per hour / 75m-ish

In the end i got fed up with looking through all the stations on Inara - and i did go to the carrier and sold for 391k netted about 140m - no bonus. Oddly an hour later the carrier called "ens Serroco" was no longer listing as 391k - i think someone maybe... screwed up an didn't set to private as suggested above ..oh .geez

Map mining?
Every rock of every ring contains the exact same items in it, every 3 hours you can go back to the same exact rock and get the same content you mined 3 hours ago...
So if you build a reference point map for every rock that gives a high value. Every 3 hours you can go back to those exact same rocks vis the mapped references and mine the same content from those rocks... This means every 30-35 mins of cutter use you can fill that 512 ton cutter with 512 tons of platinum...
If you make 5--6 platinum ring maps you can cycle the maps untill board... as you restart map 1 every 3 hours as all the rocks you mined jut regenerated there content..

Blimey! I didn't know that.
That must have taken quite some effort.
How do you return to the same rock?
Cross platform map PC and console..

I dont do them any more as combat pays enough now...
They use default reference points and directions from last mined rocks as shown in video...

not sure if its the same as me, but you have to aline your ship the same way, on the same side of the ring, if you can orientate yourself and find your place again, its actually straight forward. It does take a lot of time but it sure as hell pays off. I can do this (as suggested every 3 hours knowing exactly what i will get.

Not always plane sailing. I messed up a few times and then had to take new screenshots at the correct angle

anyone remember Panite - is Titanium the new Panite? what about Monazite? i Just docked a this one station and see its going for nearly 600k hmmm
Yep would get paid more for cargo missions but prefer combat...
maybe i approached this wrong... is used an Anaconda if i recall ...and got overwhelmed quite quickly. I should brush up on my combat tbh....how i do miss turning flight assist off and pull a Starbuck "target destroyed" is satisfying

ps. i'm still sitting on (another) 600t of platinum about to do a round for the highest bidder again, if anyone knows this super secret place that buys at silly price - dm me pls thx

edit: yes i'm using inara
