Community Event / Creation 3D Adder impression - Wings 3D model created for mod

Here's the almost final representation as I see the Adder created in Wings3d ( a free 3d modeler ). Took about a week worth of work to make this from scratch.

The last two shots show the adder without the Large Cargo Bay installed. Landing gear remains to be done.

Enjoy.

WOW, great work, I love how you keep the original form but making it look awesome, great details. Maybe you can port it to Space Engine I would love to see it fly.

Glad you like it, I have done 2 models already and they have been flying in Oolite for quite a while now. This one has been sitting idle on my drive since September last year due to lazyness and a modelling burnout. I started to work on it again yesterday and I am hoping to finish it sometime next week so I can start the extensive import process into Oolite. The ships work with reusable bits so to speak and the position and rotation of every piece needs to be put into a config file. Making the model is 1/3 of the job.

Anyways here are some more screens while I am adding more detail to it, the basic model is done. I just need to add the different equipment subsections now as you can see on the screenshots.

Shot 1 shows the advanced nav array on top of the cockpit and the gunbays with their hatches closed. The two light yellow cradles on top will host the shield generators.

Shot 2 Shows the escape capsule underneath the nose, the installed fuel scoop, the bottom thruster and the Witchdrive (Hyperdrive) cradle, and just in front of the Large Cargo Bay a small socket for the starboard nav light. The ASC (advanced space compass) is situated on the nose together with the multi targeting system.

Shot 3: A frontal shot with the docking clamps mounted beneath the floodlights and a closer view of the landing gear in its deployed state. Clearly visible is the ASC an the rotating Multi Targeting System in the center on the nose.

Shot 4: The mounted LCB (large cargo bay) with on top the rear floodlight in its housing and next to the exhausts two sets of vertically superimposed rear (red and green) navlights. The triangular lights are aft lights (white).

Shot 5: With the LCB removed you can clearly see the in system drive cradle (Torus Drive) which, like the hyperspace drive is not yet installed.

More to follow (weapons positions) tomorrow, possibly adding color to the ship as well.
