3D orrery at Elite Galaxy Online

Hey commanders,

I made a post about this on the explorers forum but thought it would be worth putting here as well to be more visible.

I've added a 3D orrery map to www.elitegalaxyonline.com to try and visualise the orbits of the different systems across the galaxy. It uses the real data for the planets which has been recorded at the site and you can speed up and slow down time to see the planets orbiting.

There's close to 200 systems now which have been mapped and are ready to view in the orrery.

It's pretty complex so might not work in all browsers, use the latest version of chrome if you can for the best experience.

If only FD could pull the finger out the back side and do similar. :mad:

Add on after add on is useless without the sense of integration in the universe! ;)

System maps sucks period. :(

Looks awesome - I was in Altair, so I added that.

Excellent job, maybe the E.D. team should hire you !
I have been nagging many times about that horrible current System map,
they should have made orrery map in the beginning.

Thanks for adding Altair commander, especially as objects have to be recorded manually at the minute whilst the OCR scanner is being reworked for 2.1.

I had a quick look and there was a slight problem with the hierarchy where the main star was not at the top. I've fixed this now and the Orrery for Altair is now working.

I'll get another validation check added to the hierarchy builder as it would be better to point out this error rather than it just crashing. :)
