AFAIK, Xbox One only supports 3D for Blu-ray Discs, not for games.
And even if it did support it, 3D is dead anyway...
Not necessarily on my LG C6 dustyBesides all the reasons above.
3D will split your pixels in half.. if you have a 1080p game, and if you have a passive 3D tv like a Cinema 3D LG tv, you get a picture quality a little below 720p..
And 720p is SO 2015, lol![]()
Lots of incorrect statements here.
Half side by side just works, it doesn't need any 3d mode by the xbox one. If the game renders two side by side images, put your tv in side by side mode, and it will turn it into 3d.
Besides, the xbox one can support framepacked 3d in more than blurays, it works fine in black ops 2 and halo anniversary backwards compatibility (I've tested it).
Half side by side is better than 720p framepacked, in raw pixels, and in an even integer scaling to 1080p. Passive displays would benefit more from half over under, unless it's a 4k passive display, in that case half side by side would not lose any further resolution vs half over under.
People are playing elite in 3d right now on pc. It's a popular discussion on nvidia 3d vision forums. I don't believe it would take much for fdev to port it to xbox one, it should just work as the xbox OS doesn't need to do anything to support it.
I see that a few in this thread appear to speaking for everyone when they say it's not wanted. Obviously I'm proof that's not true. Someone said it's too expensive, well those that already own a 3dtv, it costs nothing.
I've only created this thread because I think fdev could copy a feature already available on pc to xbox with minimal effort. Obviously if this took a great deal of work, it's a non starter, since 3dtvs are not all that common. But if it doesn't require much effort, they could offer some of us a cool feature that, speaking for myself, would love.

Because it is a 4k screen, I still get full HD image for each eye on 3D blurays, even though it's passive 3D.
Amazing telly, best one I've ever had. I actually saw my old 1080p plasma shortly afterwards, and I couldn't believe how washed out the picture was on it, and I thought it was the dogs doodahs when I had it!
I didn't want a curved one, but the flat 3D oleds screens all went with just odd display models left in stock around the country, and I wanted one with 3D so had to get the c6.
The curve isn't that pronounced and when you're sat 10 feet away, you can't even tell that it's curved.
Checked last night and the 3D option in halo anniversary did not want to work when playing on the x.
It was removed in the MCC, but works if you have the 360 version on Xbone.
This is what i have (the 360 anniversary disc) but it wouldn't work for me on the X last night. Just kept saying I had to put a wide-screen setting on in the 360 settings?!
I agree with you, but perhaps the devs could comment, because it still may be possible. You have to consider the performance impact that comes with producing that extra viewport. It's a little more complex than 'put another screen on there', whether the relevant code in the pc version is easily portable or not.
Bear in mind, many games on xb1 have the hardware running flat-out already just to produce *one* screen. The software is finely tuned to produce the best image quality you can get within the limitations of what the hardware is capable of.
With hardware already under stress, that whole process needs to be redone to produce a side-by-side mode that is both playable, and doesn't look like crap. An insurmountable effort? No, but effort nonetheless. I have a hunch this is one of the main reasons that 3d mode support in games fell out of fashion with the advent of xb1.
With the xb1x it's probably be less of a problem, as there's plenty more horsepower to play with there, but on the vanilla xb1 it'd definitely be a thing.

Hmm, I get no such error, I'm on launch xbone. Have you tried Black Ops 2 3d mode?
