Newcomer / Intro 3g planed own me

I think @Chris Simon is saying that Horizons needs to be installed. You can just install Odyssey and not click "Install" (or "Upgrade") for the Horizon version (which also installs / updates the base game and Arena IIRC). So if you have not Installed or Updated Horizons then you can't select that to overcome a glitch in Odyssey. If I am misrepresenting what he meant then I hope he will correct me.
Just a side note because this always worked before so it gets recommended a lot.
Odyssey and Horizons are two different installations. So you can just switch between them unless you have them both installed. Not really a "quick and easy" solution anymore.

For player who didn't buy Odyssey this option isn't an option either, AFAIK. The "base game" now includes Horizons.

Ah. I think I misunderstood the "All base game owners will get Horizons" then.

Nonetheless, my point stands - if you get in trouble in Odyssey, you can't just switch to the Horizons version - you would have to have it installed as a separate client.

It doesn't sound like that, based on what Chris wrote before... He literally says "Odyssey and Horizons are two different installations. So you can just switch between them unless you have them both installed. Not really a "quick and easy" solution anymore." But that was the case even before with ED vs Horizons. You also had to have them both installed, that is nothing new...

No offence meant, I just want to understand where is Chris coming from, why is he saying what he is saying... Does he know about some new restrictions being put in place?

Also, the OP, although struggling to explain his problems in sufficient details, made it almost clear, that he does try to launch Horizons, and subsequently, he showed a screenshot, that proves he tries to "Recover to orbit", which is only possible, if you have Horizons installed...

Now the only question remains: if you do try to load Horizons and you do click"Recover to orbit", is there a bug, that it does not work for the OP, or is it some new feature, preventing players from solving their difficulties this way?

Sigh... That's typos for you.
I meant "You can't just switch between them unless you have both installed."
Whereas previously when you installed Horizons, the base game was automatically installed and up to date all the time.

And as for the "Recover to orbit" thingy, I'm not sure how does it work when one's in a taxi.

Sigh... I know this one little thing was a typo, I may not be the sharpest pencil in the cup, but I usually know how to find my way out of a paper bag... :)

Maybe if you phrased your post better, it would be easier to understand, that you were referring to a situation, where player installs only Odyssey as a fresh game with no previous Horizons or ED presence on his HDD.

Now we understand what you meant...

Yeah, phrasing things better isn't really my M-O. Sorry. :D

No worries mate, the important thing is we understand each other in the end... :)

The only question remains though: is the "Recover to orbit" feature bugged? Obviously our OP has both games installed, yet he struggles to recover to orbit... Could be because he is in a shuttle? But then the question is, how come the shuttle cannot take him anywhere?

Again, we lack details of his problem...

Maybe a design oversight rather than a bug. (one could argue they are the same thing, though)
For example - one doesn't own a ship. They take a taxi to a surface facility but are unable to disembark. (because of their suit's capabilities).
In such case the game kind of halts. Instead, the taxi should be able to simply take you back where you came from or you should be able to choose another location.
Having to disembark to call the taxi again is the problem here I think.

Honestly, it should have never come to workarounds like firing up a different client. Before, switching to non-horizons was not a necessity. Yes one could do it when they got their SRV stuck somewhere (i.e. it was more of an exploit to circumvent "death" or being stuck by your own fault)
The way it works now is just weird.

i try start horisons or standart elite, and i clic 100 times recover orbit.

and its my problem

if your still having issues and you cant recover to orbit you will need to contact support and describe your issue in as much detail as you can

frontier support site is a nightmare to navigate or find any link to request support try this:

if this link fails to work try logging in here first
then retry the first link, or play hunt the "submit a request button"

bewarned it looks like some support requests can take upto 7 days to get a response 🤬

Yes Frontiers support team is usually superb in their ability to sort things out and their promptness, at the moment though they are probably being overwhelmed.
