Newcomer / Intro 3rd party apps

Although I have been playing for 4 years, I have not used any 3rd party apps that automatically upload my journals. I would like to start doing this. What apps are most useful? My research points to ED Discovery. What about EDSM or EDDI? What are your recommendations?

Eddiscovery will upload all your old journals, but for me it's just too big and cumbersome. Once they are uploaded, I would recommend using edcm instead for day to day use, save eddiscovery for when you actually need it.
Don't forget the Canonn plugin for edmc if you go exploring

I have EDDiscovery and EDMarket Connector.

ED Discovery has a lot of good features, plus some bloat and an unclear interface. EDMC is the one I use day-to-day and I have it set to update EDDB, EDSM and Inara.

There is now an EDDiscovery Lite - I don't know what all its features are but maybe it would suffice?

Have both, mainly run EDD. You can also run EDMC as plugin in EDD.
But: I play in VR, so don't see either of them while playing. EDMC has the advantage that you can run it as overlay on the game screen while EDD basically needs its own display.

I don't see the point of havong EDMC as an overlay. When I'm playing I already know where I am and which ship I'm flying.

I use EDDiscovery to load logs into both EDSM and Inara. The former is great for seeing where you've been and has useful links for seeing ship builds, particularly nice for Coriolis.

Inara has great tools too and is really handy for checking engineer stuff and mat traders near your current locale.

Of course, you could manually upload your data to those sites but EDDiscovery eases the process. And does other stuff too.

I use EDMC, EDSM and Inara.

EDSM is situational, if I am not exploring it isn't needed. The other two I use continually, with Inara being the most useful site for me.

Interesting. Anything that winds up those jerks is worth a look.

Elite Observatory is an excellent tool for exploring - it highlights all those features you otherwise have to dig for, and therefore commonly miss. And EDMC Overlay is a nice plugin.
