Ok, be this not the first Online Space Sim out in the market, so then why is a customer pointing out that the developers have been so short sighted?

Do we not all start in the same systems, starting the same missions and then fly to our destination 3 systems away only to be stuck in a queue for 45 mins waiting to land and in bordom and frustration at the 'Permission Denied' response have i then decided to fly it directly into the station and explode!!!

Seriously! Have you not even considered this possibility or do i as a paying customer have to wait like at a checkout at Tesco's? Or do i check back in a few weeks so that i can actually use this software when the origin systems have less people in them?

So the response going to be 'You have to wait!', 'It's like life!' well I dont see any filling stations in this country with only one space for parking!

1) Cancel my account.
2) Refund the £39 I have unfortunately paid for this 'game' I will buy the other!
3) If not refunded, expect a complaint to trading standards under the Sales of Goods Act and a Court Appointed Bailiff collection via Small Claims.

Permission Denied!

EDIT

If it's that big of a deal, play in solo instead of Open Play, or head out to another system with player activity but not to the degree of what you're seeing. Sounds like you're just sticking around the starting system. You can always dock in solo, there won't be anyone to get in the way. You can always come back to Open whenever you want. Additionally, don't accept any missions having to do with outposts, only deal with stations.

First make sure you are close enough to the station (within 7.5km )

I have only encountered permission problems 2-3 times, and usually had to wait less than a minute. Some people are either really unlucky or impatient kids throwing their toys out of the pram.

Also, there's no reason to hang about in the system you start really.

This! ^^^

There is absolutely no reason to hang around where you start out, unless you really want to. Throttle up your freebie Sidey - pick a star system - and go find out whats out there! You'll probably get a few thousand credits just by scanning your first frameshift-drive exit target.

You can always head back later on :)

em.... he'll get 210 Cr for the 1st scan.... to make " a few thousand"... he'll have to do a lot... lot more.... please don't over rate how much peeps "earn"

I keep seeing 40K this and a few 100K in a hour that ... it's all bull... and takes much longer for a starter

+1 rep for everyone who has replied to this thread for being nice and not responding aggressively to the OP.

this game has a steep but rewarding learning curve in the beginning, there are a lot of things that have the potential to frustrate the new user until the know whats going on.

that said we have a very friendly and helpful forum here so if you get stuck or run in to problems don't hesitate to ask, we were all new to the game at some point and have often done the same ourselves.

you will find the users here more than willing to pay the help they got forward if you post in a calm manner and explain the issues you are having (as can be seen from the replies.)

Thanks for pointing that out, but do you pay for software to play online with others? Do you not pay for your internet? So, if you were to say play Dayz do you expect to have to log out and log back in and wait because only on person can fire a gun on the server to kill a zombie at a time?

Is the purpose to take on missions to fly from one destination to another? As in within a time limit and that time is ticking away and whooo! Foo me i cant complete it as it tells me 'Permssion Denied' every time i try and land et al - the product is not merchantable and does not allow the consumer to appriciate the fundemental aspects on game play.

You must now remember one thing - consumers rule!

UK Legislation overides anything - The EULA is worthless literature of fiction that absolves the developers from everything...fact! and when i comes to contract law expressed/implied warrenties and innominote terms are dealt with by the courts - under the Sales of Goods Act 1988 - it clearly states that the product must be of merchantable quality, which im pointing out that it is not. I have a right as a consumer to return the items and state why to the manufactuer, making them aware within 14 days of purchase. I am entitled to a full refund. This is all so clearly stated within our Law, a fact which most consumers dont appriciate. Whether it be a washing machine or a paper clip you can return it and they cannot refuse to accept it or return the funds.

Since you compare it to Tesco. Buy a 300 credit Fuel scoop and you have free gas for life, and you can choose to go to the market downtown (Outpost) that takes in all the illegal stuff or the big supermarket where there's no queues because it's supersized for it's location (stations in just about every system except starter systems) to buy your equipment.

Most people that lose their patience with this game haven't been challenged by a game in 10 years it seems. A lot of this game you can figure out on your own, some others you'll get as tips from friendly forum members. Give it a chance.

This 'kid' was old enough to buy and play the original Elite! Young man!

i've heard of proper MMO's where the players form a line by the boss spawn then wait for their turn to kill it. i believe that was world of warcraft, but having never played the game i can't be 100% sure.

yes it sucks having a full outpost, but the workaround really is simple. when you get request denied, exit back to menu, go in solo mode, dock then exit to menu and go back in to open. it adds a few mins to the whole thing, but nothing like 45mins waiting to dock!

also in quieter systems the NPC's might have filled all the bays. when this happens one NPC will lift off to free a bay up for you. if you spot them you can hang about their bay as you'll be given that one when they are deemed clear and your request goes through. in general you know it's NPC's hogging the bays if there are no other players on scan.

i know if i buy a washing machine over the internet and i don't like the colour i can send it back for a refund, but i'm not sure if that applies to software. if you really want a refund then i suggest you contact customer services, i expect there are details for that on the website. the forums are really not the place for official things like refund requests.

that said the work around is fast and simple and leaves you playing multiplayer almost all the time. i think i've dropped into solo 3 or 4 times since launch, and only for long enough to dock.

the problem is really trivial, and once you've learnt the game a bit more you might find you really enjoy it. seems a shame to give up on it for something you can side step right now.

Remember Tesco's cant count either =)

I have been an avid 'Gamer' for over 30 Years - I play Dayz, I play Eve Online, titanfall etc etc. I Play various other 'challenging' games and i report on bugs and issues.

I think that this is all challenging enough for an old fart like me. I am also a Programmer, but the software i develop is a little more complex as in FADEC Engines on Airbus aircraft that the majority fly within, so robustness, testing and redundancies are all a daily challenge for me! You havent heard of one of my updates causing an engine to stop mid air have you?

I have had a total of 2 hours game play and indeed frustrated to hell with it. The drugs (Sanatogen) are wearing off now, so i am now in a dark room with my cat whom constantly farts sat asleep next to my monitor.

I don't know where you started, but you've had some bad luck, because queuing isn't normal, also as mentioned, no point hanging around there either. I don't get the impatience either, I really don't, because I'm normally impatient as hell with computer stuff, but nothing about this game make me impatient. Go out and see the stars, screw the stations :) (damn it I sound like a crazy hippy now)

My last Airbus trip was the A380, those are certainly nice, and it didn't fall out of the sky, as far as I can recall.

lhs 3447 is a kinda sucky system with that 100K Ls trip from star to station. i tried to do my first federal rank up mission from there, and that trek combined with a slightly shorter but still long trip to buy the goods saw me fail it 3 times. eventually i camped in station with a cargo hold full of their bleedin nonleathal weapons until the mission popped up again!

i moved out shortly after that and havent looked back since

The only issue i have with the 'permission denied' problem at outposts is maybe you should be informed that the bays are full & that you have been allocated a slot after 'x' ships.
You then have a choice to stay or go.

It's rare that i get into an outpost the first time...sometime i hang around & enjoy the view (of ships smashing into the outpost), but i usually give it about 20 - 30 requests & if im still not in then i save the game & reload in solo play & get in first time...usually.

Seems like an aweful lot of players get started off in the LHS 3447 system, iv not read on the forum posts of any other start positions other than this....but i'm exploring & getting away from this area & making my way towards Sol....btw great game, love it!
