41 Years in the making... finally awarded Elite

It's only taken around 41 years to be awarded Elite status!

First came across Elite on the BBC Micro in 1984 and then C64 in 1985 but as a young lad, never managed to gain the Eilte status on any of those versions, Amiga version came and went but still nothing... In fact the devil farted in my face as my C64 tape deck wouldn't record, so I wasn't able to save my games. Also played First Encounters and Frontier but still never managed to reach the heady hights of Elite.

This weekend, sold commodities as part of the current CG at Starlace and WHAM! The Elite (trade) status is slammed into my face and made a 51 year old pretty happy. o7

Wonder if this might be a Guiness Record of longest time taken to get to Elite status...

Much the same, never managed it in the C64 version, explored a lot though. The Amiga (secondhand A1000) version of Elite I bought from a store (mysteriously the last on the shelf) had a bootsector virus on it and was corrupted, so I never actually played it. After that, I bought Frontier and although I owned a Panther Clipper outfitted with a large plasma accelerator and enough cooling boosters I could happily sit outside a Coriolis and obliterate entire armies of police vipers, it never occurred to me to get Elite status.

A toast, then, to being l33t in our 50's :D

Indeed, cheers! and loving the A1000 ownership, nice. Did have an A1500 for a while, think I was edging closer to owning a PC at that point as Commodore sank into the swamp of doom as probably around the time of the 486 DX2 66.

Right on, CMDR!

I remember Elite on the C64, never made it to Elite, saved up for the Amiga 500 to play Elite again for the sweet filled vector graphics. Again no Elite rank for me...

This time around, I made sure to make it :)
Thanks and respect on the choice of name if it indeed related to; Magican ✊and other Feist books. I do recall the Amiga version blowing my mind with those filled vectors, seem recall still is getting 97% review in Zzapp 64 magazine... but that might be just fond memories.
