4A/F Plasma Accelerators. worth a look?

Hi all, im looking to purchase a 4A/F Plasma Accelerator but am wondering if its a good choice of weapon. Ive tried a couple of other loadouts but would like to try this. Any comments welcome + does anybody know where i can purchase one near Teaka

thanks

the class 4 PA does eat more energy than the class 4 cannon. But with PA you do get the terror factor, stressing your opponent to redirect power to shields instead of weapons while facing you.
This can potentially give you a brief upper hand as his dps outputs are lowered by the fear of your plasma balls. :)

The big plasma gun also seems to do AOE damage to subsystems. I've shot at NPC Anacondas targeting their drives and gotten glancing hits on the drives, but the same shot also hit something else that caused them to explode.

Thanks, i tred the 4 F/G Cannons but didnt like them, seemed to be under powered

My exact feelings when i used it. Its travel time also makes it very easy to avoid. Cannons imo are vastly superior, they travel faster, do the same amount of damage also. The main benefit of plasma is its both shield and hull damage but energy weapons can strip shields fast enough regardless meaning theres very little time difference before its pure hull your hitting.

For it it basically boiled down to having an energy loadout that could strip shields without using an capacitor (or barely any so i could shoot for ages before i had to release). Stacked with 3 cannons it was destruction city. Trying the same loadout with even a single plasma (1 huge and 2 medium would strip half a capacitor on its own), i'd do about the same damage but with alot more downtime, facing a target, yet unable to shoot.

The thing though does look beast in outfitting so i couldnt help but make it my avatar.

Done this with C2 Plasmas too actually. I have a period where I ran a Cobra with twin C2 Plasmas for RES and NAV engagements. Quite often the big ships just blew randomly from a few salvos of these. Went back to "normal" weapons as random was not something I wanted to depend on...
