4k Textures + Radeon VII

Interesting, maybe game engine detects availability of extra memory and it is using for cache?. My own TITAN XP at 4K resolution with MAX settings never go beyond 6GB but then nVIDIA's GPU architecture is utterly superior to AMD. Love the fact AMD is handing out HBM2 for such a cost as Radeon VII.

4k and even 8k textures aren't limited in any perceptible way by VRAM capacity on 11, or even 8GiB parts.

The game will allocate far more VRAM than is absolutely necissary and most slow downs with hyperspace load times with high texture quality are actually a GPU fill rate limitation, not a VRAM limitation (yes, I checked).

I can't rule out some benefit from more VRAM, but even my 1080 Tis are completely limited by GPU core performance at high galaxy map resolutions and sample counts.
