Been playing around with Imgur some more and even with the high-quality uploads setting enabled in my account, it's still recompressing any image I upload and the quality reduction really kicks in hard with larger file sizes. For example, uploading a 1.82MB jpeg (saved from the original PNG with 95% quality, progressive, float DCT, and 1x1 RGB subsampling) results in a 1.32MB jpeg, but the same exact image uploaded as the original 11MB PNG results in an 832KB jpeg that looks like mud.
Also, as far as I can tell, ALL Chromium based browsers are applying the wrong color space by default, which causes images to look washed out. IE and Firefox look correct...Chrome, Vivaldi, etc, do not.
Anyway, this is the least messed up I can get a 4k image to look on Imgur (best viewed in it's own tab on Firefox or IE):
