£5 gift code.......why?

As a token of our appreciation for your continued support with the development of Elite: Dangerous we are delighted to be offering a £5 Gift Code, redeemable only on the Frontier Store, for customers who have purchased the game and who purchase Elite: Dangerous on Xbox One.

An e-mail will be sent to your registered email address with the Gift Coupon after you have purchased Elite: Dangerous on Xbox One and linked your accounts.

Why would anyone buy the game on XBone when they already own it on PC?

Seems like a pointless exercise to me personally.

Bry.

They want us to buy it twice. 5 quid off is nothing..peanuts, but people like a freebie so some will take advantage off it. i won't be.

I thought I have read somewhere that once you buy ED, you can play on any platform? I guess "any platform" applies only to PC and Mac...

I don't have any problem with it, though, I don't own an Xbox and don't plan to get one either.

As I said in another thread, I don't own an XBox, will never own an XBox ... what use is this £5 to me?

You know, it's possible to get an offer and not take it. You act like if you see an ad for a can of coke for a free you'll go all bat insane on them because you don't like coke. It's not for you, move on.

you know what? you're right ... I am sorry.

If anyone is buying an XBox version of Elite Dangerous and wants my £5 off gift code, please PM me. First come, first served.
Sorry, just read it ... it doesn't work like that ... oh well, I did offer though.

Buy the game for someone with an Xbox and let them enjoy the ride as much as we have.

Its time to step out of the small shooes people and act like PC masterrace people acts.

Maybe I don't get the offer, but cant you use it for *anything* in the store? Like a skin pack, a mug or a discount on any upcoming paid expansions?

Frontier: I won't be buying the XBox version of Elite: Dangerous.

I have nothing against consoles but personally I can't get on with console controllers, and for me keyboards/mice/joysticks/throttles are the only way I enjoy playing games. This is why I only play games on a PC.

So... I hope you haven't sold out to Microsoft and you aren't going to forget us PC gamers... the ones who without us Elite: Dangerous wouldn't have been possible.

If a lot more content for Elite: Dangerous becomes exclusive or early access to the XBox, with PC content being second best then I will seriously consider not buying any future ED content from yourselves.

Exclusivity is anti-consumer! Please do not let us down.

I would have double dipped for 50% off of the xbox copy, but a $5 coupon i can only use on the store after I've bought the game? What's the point?

I have an Xbox. I don enjoy playing it, as I can game while chatting to the wife and in relative comfort. The thought of playing elite on my huge flastscreen is appealing, but I won't be splashing cash on another copy. Not even with a 5 quid voucher, which is peanuts btw.

If this what Kerrash was squueeeing about, then.....oh dear.

It's a bit weird. For this voucher

- You must own ED on Mac/PC.
- Buy it again on Xbox 1, before 26th of July (not long)
- You must "Play the game on Xbox 1 for a continuous 2 hour period" Wut???
- The voucher's only valid for 30 days.

Odd. I guess free stuff is free stuff. For me, I don't know how anyone could play this game with a console controller (I struggle with a HOTAS setup), so I'll be giving it a miss. Early access to the CQC is more likely to be tempting than the £5 voucher.

Seeing that I've mapped 32 buttons on my HOTAS, a few even double (game function and menu function) and still need a few keys on my keyboard, I'd really think playing this on a Controller would be ... interesting. Well, don't own the Xbone, won't change that either.
