5 hours of nothing

I know this games potential is good....but I wanna just play the damn game. I don't want to have to research how to play a game and watch videos for 4 hours to know anything to do.

First off after doing some training I wanted to start playing. So started the game. Puts me in a station with missions I can't do. With missions I can do in areas I can't get to. So literally have been flying around doing jack for 5 hours. Because I have no sense of direction on what's going on no clue what map markers mean. Apparently I'm supposed to have starter missions? I dont.

I'm curious is this just me or did it happen to anyone else.

And p.s. I'm pretty sure if the game is based on traversing different planets and galaxies....I'm pretty sure they might have developed docking bays that can rotate. Just sayin

Don't mind the pros and know-it-all's here. There isn't much to do in the game other than buying at location A and then sell it at location B, exploring empty star systems and barren planets (well... up until the Thargoids showed it, it was very barren), or fight endless streams of pirates without having the slightest impact at all.
It's a space simulator as much as it's a screenshot simulator. What you see is what you get. After 2.5 years of Elite Dangerous, I've come to enjoy the small things in it, but I can't play for more than a month each time with a long break in between.
People said ED wasn't for me. But I'm still here.

Give it some time, and just experiment with it. If you fall for it, you'll fall hard. If you don't, then perhaps you never will, but might enjoy the small things like I do.
However, if you want to fly your very own space ship, there really is no other game out there this good.
Fly safe.
