.5 second screen freeze every minute or so!

OK, hope a commander out there can help. I used to play ED on a Geforce GTX 970 with an I5 Intel processor at 2560 x 1440p all settings at High on a standard 1440p monitor and I didn't get these screen freeze's. Now I have a new PC with the AMD Ryzen 5 3600X and the RTX 2070 Super at 2560 x 1440p all settings at High on a MSI Optix MAG271CQR 144hz Curved Monitor and now I get the .5 second freeze, this is stupid, and should not be happening, anyone got an ideas? I'm stumped!!

I had a similar issue a while ago .. my screen would freeze every couple of minutes, not for long, like you say for 0.5-1 second. Windows had updated which had re-enabled the built-in wireless, but I use a powerline card for better throughput. The freezing was the unconfigured wifi adapter refreshing the list of available networks and interrupting the network.

I don't have any problems playing Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Farcry 5 in fact, they look and play incredibly well, my Powerdirect 17 works faster at encoding my home movies and everything works great, EXCEPT Elite Dangerous (Horizons), so I'm assuming it's something in the ED Settings, my PC is connected to my router via a UTP cable although it also has wifi 6 but this is turned off in the bios. How did you eventually fix your problem? Thanks for your input though.

Ah ok, mine was doing it in every program but was barely noticable without a game running, and disabling the unused wifi adapter worked. Have you gone back to basics? Turned the resolution down, flipped between windowed and fullscreen? Did you recently update to newer drivers or have you not updated in a long time?

No I only have a problem with ED, with my setup I should be able to have all Ultra settings as I di in all my other games. I don't really want to reduce the screen to 1080, that defeats the whole reason for the new PC, but i'll try windowed, thanks.

Well! Frontier seem to have fixed my problem... It seems (according to Frontier technical) that MSI install a sound based driver for their motherboards that includes a sound driver by Nahimic and this evidently causes various problems with the runnining of ED. I disabled the Nahimic service (as this only appears in windows services) and now Elite Dangerous runs extremely smoothly and I have changed all the settings to Ultra and hopefully this has solved my particular problem, I don't know if this is unique to my PC though. Thanks for the help.
