5 years later......

5 years later.....and I just achieved Elite status in Exploration! That is 100% in thanks to the updated exploration system (planet scans, passenger missions, etc...) without which it would not have been done. The last 5% bit I was doing Robigo passenger missions.....each load was worth 1% of my rank, except the LAST one as if to pull my chain and force just ONE MORE trip and delay my achievement! LOL.

I had first achieved Elite in Trade....that was a mission and a half, but using the Imperial Cutter (yay Empire Missions) made relatively quick work of high-value trades all those years ago. Currently only 68% up in Combat Dangerous, and a long way to go. Hoping the new update next year helps increase that a bit! I love combat, but it has been tough to get because of all the engineering changes.....I'm a minimalist in that regard. I have 400 mil credits, and a decent fleet size. Other than Elite Combat, my goal now would be to own one of every ship type, even if I never fly them.

Black Skies Ahead!

Right on Commander :)

The updates to combat seem to be only credit rewards, Combat rank is based on the rank of your kills, not their bounty so the challenge presented won't be affected by that but your income from it might.

Good luck ;)

I was doing engineer unlocks this week. A couple of days ago I needed to deliver 50 Lavian brandy and another is to deliver 50 Bromlite. The Type 6 comes with 50 tons of cargo space in the stock version. I happened to be flying an MK III which I had bought the day earlier to accomplish a specific goal. So I bought the Type 6. Upgraded the class 4 FSD and thrusters. Did a few jumps to Lave and found 48 Lavian brandy for sale. Piddled around for a while and eventually delivered the 48 tons of brandy. I decided to check back on the brandy supply later.

I needed to get a permit to enter a specific alliance system so I picked a system next to it that was allied with the alliance and when I arrived the faction I needed to ally with to get the permit was present. I decided to do some combat missions so I transferred a Mamba I like to keep in my fleet over. It happened to be very close and only took 7 minutes. It has some engineering. The other ships that I used I will probably just sell them back when I am finished with them.

Some of these ships are not that pricey so I have decided that I am going to fly all of the ships as I find a reason to and as I acquire more credits. I may one day have fully engineered versions of every ship in my fleet too but meanwhile I can still by the stock versions and upgrade what is needed or with what happens to be a hand and have a little fun with these ships that I have never even flown before.

Thanks....to clarify, next years Odyssey update. The on-foot combat may help with the rank, not the payouts.

Nice! (y)

I also happened to achieve Elite in exploration yesterday, just 2 months short of "5 yrs later" in my case. (And up until a couple of months ago, my "max distance from start" stat was still under 1k LY.) Moved up to Deadly in combat just a few days ago. Just 99% more to go for the triple! Although TBH I kind of wish I could wind that meter backwards, because I don't feel very "deadly" 🤣

Good luck with your combat and ship goals! o7
