>500 LY from Sol, NPC's still spawning during discovery/exploration?

The last time I took a great exploration tour, (a few weeks back) around 400LY from Sol, NPCs stopped spawning.

Now, today, I entered ' R CRA SECTOR IN-J B9-0 ' and NPC's are spawning. It's 511.82LY from Sol.

Anyone else seeing similar results, while exploring, now? What changed? :S

The border's about 500 from edge of inhabited space, not from Sol :)

Hm, that's not been my experience to date. The past 2 tours, I've always measured from Sol and it's been accurate.

Otherwise, it would vary according to the nearest inhabited planet, and in every direction I've gone, it's always been the same distance from Sol, which doesn't track with the 'edge of inhabited space'.

Any chance there's a dev quote to back that up? If not, I'll open a ticket.

2 weeks ago i saw npcs way way far from home and last week there was a USS at a nebula with pirates in it.

Its definitely not from Sol, otherwise there are inhabited systems they might not spawn NPCs. I discovered NPCs out in the Pleiades. There is probably a bubble extending around 1000LY from some central spot, probably not Sol. AFAIK, that 400-500LY value is just a rough value explorers came up with to describe how far it is before NPCs stop spawning. I don't think it came from an official dev statement. I could be wrong of course.

Confirm spawning and also USS's with pirates groups.
Not so easy to find a screenshot for proof where system name is to see (I don't take videos until yet).
But i found one from a few days:

System is (unlike many other) direct to find in galaxy map. 1000Ly from SOL 700ly from "17 Draconis".
Hope not each off the "requires system permit" increase again the spawn bubble(s).
At the very beginning we had videos with pirates near the galaxy core ....
So we are the lucky ones that warned yet. This will maybe sadly rip off and frustrate explorer currently far out.
Had no gargo hold. I'm in a ANACONDA and their odds are zero but they harm with the most powerfull weapon in game so far: interdiction rip up to 10% off the hull.
These are no pirates. These are lovley handcrafted madman from high payed designer staff.
A lot of other former planned game features are skipped for this. I'm sure.

Frontier makes current a lot to dislodge outcashed Kickstarter backers to bring room for the console ports

Good luck CMDR's!

500ly from Sol is actually not that far, considering that with A grade FSDs most ships can travel around 18-20 lys per hop easily.

Didn't you see Master and Commander? Pirates can be anywhere, arr.

Maybe this Fed/Emp/Alliance bubble is just that ... a bubble in a galaxy full of pirates :O ...no wonder them pirates just keep pouring in like no end to it.

Not sure why this is a problem or should be ticketed ?
If we're all out exploring why can't NPCs ?
I think it depends on the direction you take, I've gone out twice now; once as far as 2,000ly and another just a quick 600-700ly jaunt but from different starting points and different directions. Didn't encounter any NPCs past 200ly the first time but the second trip (starting from Ethgreze) I constantly met them. Some interdicted, others were flying to planets that almost looked like they were surface scanning (daft I know)

Given that there are already unsanctioned outposts I don't see why NPCs can't be scouting across Anarchy space for more.

And you wonder why Frontier can't get to genuine tickets when people want to open one because the game isn't playing nice to them ?

^ This - Confirmed!

500ly from the nearest station/outpost - SOL is not on the edge of populated space, hence you were possibly still anywhere between 100 - 400ly WITHIN the spawning area :) - Case solved

I remember NPCs and a few USSs most of the way to the R CRa nebula, got interdicted a few times too, that was about at the beginning of January. What happened to you seems normal.

there several inhabitet systems, which are about 200 ly and more away from closest station.

perhaps one of the following stations was near: Fomalhaut, LHS 450, Exioce, 17 Draconis, Aditi, BD+22 4939, Canopus, Exphiay, Fehu, LTT 9846, Pepper, Quince

I just love seeing those...

- Sidewinders without even Shields interdicting much more potent Player ships
- small Ships that couldn't even have made it here in their config due to jump range limits

Really nothing beats being in the middle of "Unexplored" nowhere and see USS all over the place, sometimes so bad (while scanning) cluttering up the NAV list and whenever one pops up, the list auto-jumps to a top position *arg*.

If I could - I'd disable those nonsensical USS entirely.
They're console-level mini-game events, following console-like scripts - in their current shape & form... IMHO they don't belong into a game like ELITE.

I have to agree with you, I think the USS mechanic is a bit detached in a way. I think it could be done better and more made of it with just a little more context to its surroundings being included. I've posted before on other ideas, but that's a different topic.

I am out exploring at the moment and I haven't come across NPC's for a while, but USS's are still spawning, not sure what they contain as I'm not checking them out to be honest. I'm pretty sure I'm over 500k LY from inhabited space. So no to interdictions, yes to USS's

I'm currently on a tour of the nearby nebula (currently heading to Jellyfish from Barnard's Loop) - and I haven't seen a sausage in days!

No offence mate but 500LY isn't really exploring in the grand scheme of things. keep pushing on,they slowly fade out until you find yourself so alone that have you smile on face when you finally see a little NPC ship after day's/weeks/months of nothing.
