500 Million Credits - Orca Ramming - Logoffski - Barnacle

Greetings CMDRs,
greetings BountyHunters, Traders, Explorers, Pirats, Miners, Smugglers, Assasins, Secret Agents, Powerplayers, Buckyballers, Ship-Collectors, Noobs, Noobkillers, Orca Captains, even griefers and complainers... and Scavengers & Fuel-Rats! (ofc)

I've been flying through our Milkyway for more than 900 hours now. I'm a Dangerous Entrepeneur & Pioneer. Been to Sag A and been killed in open more than just once.
I'm a proud Earl of the Empire, and soon an Ensign of the federal Navy (looking for a sneaky double agent position... [Death to Hudson! - long live the Emperor])
In my hangar I have multiple ships docked, including a 48 MCredits Exploration ASP, a 71 MCredits FDL, and and Anaconda (currently only equipped with a Prismatic Shield Generator). My Python "Agora" is kitted for everything with a slight touch to Combat - worth over 170 MCredits - and we (her and me) are heading for Brestla right now.

I think it's time for me to say something about Elite Dangerous today.
When I was 5 or 6 years old, I saw a guy plaing the 1984 Elite on a sunday afternoon... I was instantly in love with the concept. Unfortunately it took nearly 30 years until I too could play Elite.

This game is great. It simply is.
And most of the threads in this forum are just showing how polarizing this game is. A lot of kids [sic] are just too un1337 for a game like Elite. Crying and complaining, demanding and ranting... OMG!
Of course there are a lot of things wich must be improved. And just to mention "multicrew" ? We need more CMDRs in one instance first...
OK ... stuttering is constant more or less since ages... at least this is reliable.. xD (with the latest patch it got a bit better, as for the planetary approach - my impression)

I just like to say that a lot of complaining is clearly revealing characters which are not able to work their way to a title like "Elite". Most of the people today have a strange mentality, thinking they are born Elite, or that it must be dead easy ALWAYS to "work" up to something... What I think is behind this, is the human soul crying for it's needs. remember: It's just a game.

And here's my 2 cents: Please FD think about the fun, and don't forget that a good game is always recognizeable by it's balanced mechanics. This must be priority No. 1. Elite currently is not too far away from this. A great job has been done so far. I really appreciate this. Now let turrets, HRP, missiles and simple commodity trading as well as NPC cheating [d]look good[/d] work nicely. (in harmony with the Galaxy)

I forgot the other stuff to say, I guess I'll post it later.

OK, I'll have to get some industrial material now...

Fly safe space pilots

Edit:
To fix the logoffskis......

TREAT ANY LOGOFF DURING INTERDICTION OR COMBAT AS COMBATLOG AND FORCE SHIP DESTRUCTION ;-)

Edit II:
My next investment is an Orca - Just because I want one. (Please make a Python dockable in an Orca - Muhahaahaaarr!)

As Commander Susan Ivanova said to Bester: "when you get close to a point, make it"

All i see are vague hand-wavy comments about "fun"and "balance" and comments about people complaining it is hard to reach Elite rank which I have not seen much of.

Also, what is HRP?

I'm a scavenger what have I done wrong :D

Not everybody who criticises ED is a kid, or is just whining. I've been critical of some aspects of ED, and I played my first incarnation of Elite on a BBC B in 1984 and have played every release since then - our emotional attachment to the franchise, spanning decades, can be a source of our disappointment with ED (it is in my case). Many people have expressed legitimate concerns about th game, it's not all whining for it's own sake.

ED most certainly has its share of whiners, as evidenced by the vulture price nerf, just for one example. Most of them boil down to some variation of 'this takes too long' or 'I want more stuff automated' or 'I want more stat boosts.' These usually come from a generation of gamers who were indoctrinated into the "RPG elements" era of games and think that progression is the whole point of the game. They should be ignored. Harsh? Sure, but the cold hard truth is that those kinds of complaints only serve to shrink a game, inevitably destroying any sense of scale and grandeur it may possess.

I tend to look toward things that need to make more sense, and metagame elements that could use some pruning and cleanup. Then I turn my eye toward activities that could use some more engagement, cohesion, and challenge. If addressed in that order (prune, clean, engage, ermm...cohese?...and challenge) a game only stands to benefit its own long-term survival.

fixed it - my bad - o7

Yeah great ....now I come below griefers and complainers - well at least I know my place

mind you at least Im above the fuel rats :D

Thinking about it - im a hobo - I pick up other peoples discards and rubbish and stuff they leave lying around - I should be down the bottom

Tell me, this "elite" title you speak of does it matter if I figure the game out in 20 hours and then "grind" it, or if I am a derp never figuring it out and reach it with killing only sideys in a longer time? It does not on the visible screen show the ql of the elite. The true "Elite" is invisible, an can only be seen in a players actions.

The basic implemention fo the game is good, but far from great. And balance wise totally off. It's up to FD to adjust these things. Then Elite has can rank up to be a great game.
