54 Hour system down time

I was playing last night and a message popped up that the servers would be down to begin the phase 4 upgrade, and the expected downtime is 54 hours. I thought that's either a typo or there's new hardware going in. I'm in networking so I knew it was probably the latter. That means new servers, faster processors, memory upgrades that sort of thing. Sure enough, tried to log in today and the system is still down. Makes sense. I heard phase 4 opens the whole galaxy and imports your original commander profile. ("We're gonna need a bigger boat" seems appropriate here).

Should be good provided there are no hiccups along the way. (There are always hiccups)

Just in case anyone gets confused, it is only the Odyssey Alpha servers that are were :) off-line - normal game is unaffected.

Yes I know that is shown in the tags but since this was posted in the PC sub-forum rather than the Alpha one, I thought I'd make the point.
