From tonight's Frontier Twitch stream:
  • Yes, its back! We've hoped, we've prayed, and Frontier have heard us: Galnet! Lives!
  • No, today isn't a one-off!
  • No, you're not dreaming.
  • Its likely there will be a new Galnet (!) article tomorrow (Friday), the first of many.
  • Get ready for several story arcs, they've all been planned out, a beginning, an end and a pivot point where the players can decide how the story develops.
  • Damage to Imperial stations is deliberate and us Commanders will have to work out why.
  • Story arcs will have something for everyone.
  • The multiple story arcs currently written all tie into an much bigger story arc, which is planned out to 2022
  • Community Goals have returned!
  • New CG starts from next week!
  • Expect various rewards from Community Goals, not just credits.
  • CGs may tie into story arcs.
  • New development team within the ED team working on story arcs and related in-game content.
  • Frontier hoping to be more open with story arcs (or just in general regarding the game? Dunno).
  • Bonus events! Activities in game will result in different rewards. More credits for combat etc.
  • Thargoids? "There will be something for everyone."
  • Seasonal events are on the way too. Expect events in October and Xmas.
  • Story Arcs may effect Colonia.
  • Permits may be given out as CG rewards.
  • All planets in Odyssey will get new rendering tech and not just the ones you can land on.
  • All Odyssey space suits will be available to all Commanders.
  • Some space suits will have specific functions for specific tasks.
  • Next Dev-Diary has been filmed.
  • Next Dev-Diary will feature station interior from first-person perspective. A lot of assets are hand-crafted and not proc-generated.
  • You may not see the story-arcs coming until they hit you.
  • Introduction of Carriers (and cargo capacity) will result in adjustment of CGs
  • FD don't want Galnet articles that send player somewhere where there's nothing to do.
  • FD don't want just one thing happening in the galaxy at one time, but multiple stories happening which make the galaxy feel alive.
  • Today's attacks linked to Thargoids? Frontier welcome the speculation from the community but have no answers to give us.

Good news! October you say? If I miss that one I should be able to be back in the Bubble by December, glad the game lore is starting to come ‘alive’ again, I love what I’ve been finding but I was a little late to the party and missed all the earlier events.

It's almost as if somebody's realised that even a sandbox game can benefit from providing players with some narrative content.

Hopefully, this time around, they'll do better than to have AI mining robots on the loose in systems where there are no landable planets.

These points in particular all sound very good - definitely interested to see what develops here.

Maybe it leads to raxxala.... maybe it leads to the guardian AI, maybe it leads to the thargoid home world (say hello to our Molecular Disruption Device ), maybe it leads to the downfall of empire and the end of the slavers (HOORAY!!!)
