There are (currently) 58,293 views on the thread "exterior view" thread or whatever it's called.

I would guess that's a rough estimate of how many people are interested in elite dangerous as a game itself

minus a few for those who mistakenly traversed to that page and add a few for those who arn't bothered with forums.

Whats your take on it?

(either way, 60 odd thousand players is pretty cool but when the game goes into gamma - and then final release I would expect alot more interest - especially if frontier can market the game well)

I would have thought that multiple views by the same user would be counted separately....

Don't think so mate. I think it registers unique isp's

And by the way theres 143,000 in the other thread about oculus rift!!!!

I just tested it and viewed my own thread (this one) and the total views didnt go up

my post wasn't actually about 3rd person perspective or exterior shots but I actually agree - it would be nice to view your ship after hard earning it.

My thread was generally about how popular elite:dangerous is as a game.

Just going to note that the view counter on VB (or any forum for that matter) Isn't very accurate - and it doesn't update in real time. so if you view your thread more than once, it'll likely still say 1 view.

There's about 46,000 registered forum users, so it either means multiple visits by the same user are counted multiple times (I'm sure this happens) or there's well over 90,000 unique anonymous visitors (in the case of the Oculus thread) which I think unlikely.

Don't forget that some posts have been merged so users may be counted up more than once depending on how may merged posts.

Multiple visits are counted at least in the case when a thread has accrued new posts.

You visit then thread has 1 post = 1 visit
You visit again when there's a new post = +1 visit every time.
