60 merits lost for killing my attackers?

I was attacked by 3 Patreus ships.
They even became wanted at the moment they hit my ship and I destroyed them.
I still lose 20 merits per destroyed ship and am called a traitor.

The merits in my rating screen have not (yet) changed.
Will the merits be 'stolen' from me at the end of this cycle?

If this is true I will be very disappointed with the behavior of A Lavigny-Duval.
I will not be called and treated as a traitor for defending myself.
This is unacceptable and I will turn against her.

Does anybody have the same experience?

I'm in Archon territory (A Lavigny-Duval supporter) and i'm getting these treason messages as well. I've stopped killing empire related factions, since it guess it must from killing them, though i'm sure i've never killed any of my own. Really weird Imo.

If you kill someone who is part of the same major faction as your power you will lose merits.

Hmm, while you are usually only allowed to shoot enemy agents within your own territory (without repercussion) - i agree that it is rather interesting that you are called traiter in this case *raises eyebrow*

What?! That would be rediculous. Under usual circumstances i would agree, but they attacked him! Does your statement stand also true if he would have shot them down inside ALD territory (beeing attacked first and such).

I think you're only allowed to pirate them, not kill. But since they attacked you, it seems something got messed up

No, it was in a Patreus expansion system. Something starting with a W.
Wan... something.

I killed two of them without hesitation as they attacked me and thus became wanted.
I waited for the third one to fire at me too.
After he became wanted he was dead .

I always kill those who attack me. I do not appreciate being called traitor for that.
A Lavingy-Duval will feel my wrath if she takes my merits.
I will not leave her faction, but I will sabotage her where I can and I will climb up through the ranks without ever doing anything of real use to her..
