60 million credits = 25% Pioneer?

no, this is the result of having the pilot federation ranks beeing gained by income you do in each profession.
and then making missions count to one of each profession.
and then implementing passenger missions, without adding a new federation rank.
naturally, the credit limit for exploration ranks was comparable LOW, but toursit passengers are paying high, and counting towards exploration = what we have today
Actually it's more about finding that one system in the galaxy where just the right conditions exist for just the right time to exploi..errrr....capitalize on it.

Passenger missions elsewhere take a while, but still move you up the corporate explorer ladder faster than actually exploring.

Truth be told, passenger missions should not add anything to explorer ranks. I could see the passengers being part of the power play scheme, so you get merits based on money earned or something.

Yeah I feel (felt) the pain of doing it the right way too.

I was at 15-20% Pioneer (in 2.2) so I figured I would just finish that off right quick. So I loaded up a couple of long-range Explorer missions in the Orca and headed out.

First stop was out about 8k Ly towards Colonia way, sortof. Check.
Continued the trip to Jaques for a selfie and a T-shirt. Check.
On out past Colonia sortof towards Sag A* another 3-4k Ly for the second mission stop. Check.
Then since I was in the "neighborhood" I just finished the run to Sag A* for another selfie and to check that off the old bucket list. Check.

On the way home from Sag A* I went about 3k Ly laterally off of the logical shortest route home so as not to beat down the same path that presumably many others had taken, and then made the turn for a direct run to the bubble and mission payout.

Did I scan every system? No. Mostly just mapped systems with mainly gas giants and of course looked for water worlds and ELW's (I did find four ELW's including one ringed planet). It's funny how sometimes bloodshot eyes make a body "look" watery/cloudy but when you actually get there it's just a high metal content world. (rats!)

And of course I forgot to equip a DSS so I had to rely solely on an ADS for everything.

But I scanned my asp off and took my time instead of honk, scoop, jump. I spent almost the entire month of June on this run and was really proud of myself for making it all the way out and back because I'm not that big on the exploring thing. My hat is off to those Commanders who spend months on end out in the black. +Rep to you all!

So in the end do you know what I got for all of my efforts?

91% Pioneer.

91%.

It was quite the letdown let me tell you. But I got it done a few days later and received the Elite ranking message. That was a good day.

So does anyone know of a beacon I can shoot a couple of times that will boost me from 66% Dangerous all the way up to Elite? :D

LMAO!
What a monumental joke .... talk about getting trolled buy the devs can't half tell that none of them play.

I was noticing that my exploration level was going up rather slowly for the rewards too. That was just around the bubble scanning things here and there. I assume based on the increased rewards, and the increased levels for the ranks that I must have been way behind the actual credit value of the rank I was on (I got to Pioneer well before 2.2). Since then only 5% improvement in the last 12 months or so, but I have seen it move more regularly in previous weeks so perhaps I am finally earned enough for the rank I have.

I got to Elite in exploration recently with a total of around 215 million credits.

I was at Pioneer +42% with 129 million exploration credits, and my total hand in for the trip was 130 million, but I hit Elite before I finished selling the data.

I don't know if there are other weightings involved, but I have only done one passenger mission that would have counted towards exploration rank, and all the systems that I scan are first discovered, and I scan the complete system. Systems that have already had even one body scanned I typically ignore, just honk and be on my way, and there are many systems that I don't have the interest to scan, so again, I just honk and continue. There would have been over 100 first discovered systems from that last trip.

Yes 2 of my mates got Elite in exploration this week on the PS4, both have been grinding passenger missions out of Ceos, one has 12 million in exploration profit and the other has 20 million. I just got back from Sag A and have 75% Pioneer and 264 million in exploration profit. Slightly peeved, well okay a lot peeved, very much peeved in fact.

Doubt it helps but here you go mate. Not my pic all credit goes to the poster who made it. Sorry but I forgot their name.

I'm not bitter about the money or the rank. Really, to get Elite in Elite you need it to mean something...what drives me bananas is the things Frontier adds that take away from the immersion. This bit is pretty minor, but it piles up with the need to scoop up grams of materials that are common enough TODAY by spending hours in the SRV...while getting TONS of platinum, palladium and painite will take a lot less time. It's adds up with the CQC staring at me and calling me helpless...uhmm, you noticed I'm dangerous right?

Passenger missions should go in trade as you are not doing any actual EXPLORATION. You are carrying humans as usual, only in much bigger containers.

It feels like too many tacked on additions and it's another something I need to forget while playing.

Exploration, credit wise is a joke now.
Doubled my total payouts in 2 days, completing 80% of the road to riches.
Im proud i did it the old way.

the only rank i don't feel like i have "earned" it, is my current exploration rank.
i got it because it did a handfull of passenger missions around Sol, and it made me jump from early surveyor to Ranger in a th shortest amount of time.

meanwhile my combat rank is Dangerous 90%, and Trade Entrepreneur 99,9% - > and those are the result of playing the game since release with a year hiatus..

Passenger missions should give you as much exploration points as finding resource rocks on a planet (yes, those increase your rank too)
