The Indra Megaship Joins the Fight!

Greetings Commanders,

The Indra Megaship is jumping across the bubble to contribute to the Thargoid War effort this Thursday. It's destination is HIP 28128, a short distance from the front line.

Some of you will have noticed that the Indra Megaship has recently stopped offering new missions. This was done in preparation for the jump, after which the mission boards will refill.

Yes originally at least it was, it was part of the Federation and Empire expanding into the Pleiades Cluster back in 2017. Even if the faction controlling the system it's currently in is different, it should still be an Empire ship.

Galactic News: New Superpower Bases in the Pleiades

06 Jul 3303

Last month, the Empire and the Federation launched initiatives to bolster their presences in the Pleiades star cluster. Following the successful conclusion of both campaigns, the superpowers set to work on their respective construction projects. These projects have now come to an end.
In the HR 1185 system, Imperial Senator Zemina Torval presided over the maiden voyage of the Indra, a massive Wells-class Carrier. She concluded the launch with a brief statement, saying “Space is by nature hostile. The Indra will make this particular system less so.”
Meanwhile, the Federation announced the completion of Blackmount Orbital, an asteroid base sited among the rings of HIP 17692 A4 in the HIP 17692 system. A Federal spokesperson confirmed the outpost would offer a wide range of services to independent pilots.

That might be nice if Bruce could confirm that please?

It's also a Maelstrom. "Contribute to the Thargoid War effort" 🧐
Now either someone in the Empire has a twisted sense of humour, or there's something deeper going on here...

(at least they're sending it to Taranis)

In effect it's more Symbolic than anything - carriers somewhat outperform them on all accounts, but she'll be nearer the whole adventure.
I'm not sure about the superpower front given both superpowers Retreated from the Pleiades that same year,

We'll see what comes of things soon i suppose, and if the thargoids see it as a very nice target.

The Superpowers did pull back, but they still left both of the mega ships out there in the same systems.

Certainly in terms of the narrative it's a fairly big difference from them being Superpower owned and controlled, and being deployed to help the war effort. To them suddenly being owned by a player faction because they happen to control the system they're currently in, and them deploying a megaship to help the war effort.

It's a dockable megaship, so it counts as a station and can be controlled independently of the system. Presumably it got captured from the Empire years ago.
There would be some documentation if a PMF were given a Megaship though would there not, rather than it being under their control because of controlling the system?

A PMF "liberating" such a thing from a Superpower for their own use is pretty big news.

Not necessarily - it was added quite some time ago, before Frontier had / routinely used the capability to lock individual assets to particular owners.

They'll have won it through normal BGS means (not the same as "given it") at some point in the distant past - looking back at the elitebgs archives, it will have been captured in late 2018 or early 2019.

But not intrinsically more so than any other class of dockable station, surely? They change hands all the time, even sometimes plot-significant ones or (much more often) formerly plot-significant ones. Blackmount Orbital was added for the Federation at the same time and is also now under AXI control via the usual means.

Delaine Terminus (Orbis) lasted about a week after the Kumo Council had it built before they lost control of it, and they barely lasted a year before being retreated from the system entirely, and that didn't make Galnet either (no-one particularly tried to draw those changes to Frontier's attention at the time, of course)

Well we all know what happened to the last pmf megaship, that ended in a fiasco and then the pmf lost the megaship but they still run around with FC with its name :ROFLMAO:

but old news. such has been done only weeks after dockable megaships came ingame.

But other assets that are owned by controlling the system are not sent off to help fight the Thargoids. (as I said in the first place)

A Megaship is being sent to aid the war effort, but by whom? Who's going to control it when it turns up? Who's going to be handing out the missions?

A PMF who get to expand into an uninhabited system, one of the Superpowers while the other two sit idle, or some random group that has commandeered it?

The fact Bruce liked a post suggesting it's AXI's Megaship, certainly would seem to suggest that they now have full control of it regardless of it's location or controlling faction. That just seems rather strange to me.

Since Frontier just did a stream with AXI (and want to do more), the timing suggests that maybe they want to include this group into the narrative a bit more. Or maybe AXI just asked to have their MS moved and Frontier complied.
