Important Changes to the Thargoid war balance

Following your feedback we have implemented the following changes with the Thursday maintenance.

Thargoid War Strategy
  • Alert/Invasion
    • Titans will now directly invade populated systems, skipping the traditional probing state
      • Unpopulated systems will no longer enter an alert state
      • Several populated systems will still enter an alert state
  • Counterstrike Port AXCZs
    • Following your feedback, we are enabling an option for port Anti-Xeno Combat Zones to play an offensive role against the Thargoids:
      • In previously populated counterstrike systems, one port will reactivate and will have an AXCZ available
        • This port will have repair/rearm available, but will not offer missions
        • Planetary ports will be favored. If no suitable planetary ports are available, a space based port will reactivate instead
      • These systems can be identified on the Galaxy Map as stacked counterstrike and port under attack icons as below:

As the war continues to escalate make sure you are ready to join the fray with the Python MKII Stellar and the Alliance Chieftain AX Combat Jumpstart!

I assume the minimum damage to earn the rewards remains unchanged at damage to the heat core equal to 2 million in bonds or more?

Clarification request: Points 1 and 3 - does this mean some DO alert and some DON'T? Point one implies all pop systems go right to invasion, while point 3 says some don't. Point 2 - Does this mean they are totally ignoring unpop systems? Or are they going straight to controlled? Because I REALLY hope it is the first one.

Reading it as written, it sounds to me like populated systems will mostly go into alert as normal, but some will just skip straight to invasion. Those thargoids are getting reckless in their desperation so it would seem!

I agree, having 10-20 new invasion states each tick would be well received by all our combat pilots. Especially given that the planetary ones are the easiest route in for new flyers.

No bonds are earned again - the bug is back?
I went to get my 2M of contribution already done in case I don't make it tomorrow/weekend - after 1 hour the combat bonds stayed at the same number, relogged and it's still the same old value, went to station - same value there too...
I started with 2.5M, earned around 2.4M from shooting Titan core and it stayed at 2.5M.

Edit: no combat bond events in the journal at all

Shouldn't it be take to/on the Titan?

Else we are going to commit the heist of the millennium.

(Nothing to complain about with the other changes, but maybe the Titans will want to unveil some other tricks if they actually don't want to be reduced to heaps of scrap.)

... which (at least as far as I've found) are (also?) shown here.

Decal is snazzy. I see that they're really starting to bring the bling as the dead Titan count crosses the half-way mark.

I think that's the first Thargoid ship kit that I would actually want to put on one of my ships, makes the Cutter look like a dragon. Does it come with the paintjob? Because that also looks really pretty.

More chances for ground port AXCZs is excellent news. They're loads of fun and allow for a wider variety of ship builds. I've got a Cobra Mk3 that I've outfitted to be an AX dogfighter, she's a blast to fly at ground ports.

I don't think it's 2 million. I got the decal reward for a much lower contribution (less than 1 million) for the last titan.
