65kly Club?

I was just curious how many explorers here have actually broken 65kly distance from home? After heading out on my first truely long range trip I now understand how difficult a mark that is to reach. It is something that can take months of real time to hit. I left the bubble on Oct, 5th and have made it about 8KLY on my trip towards the core. I am sure I could have gotten farther but I take the time to get side tracked and follow star chains to see where they lead. I have cruised the top of the galactic plain where the stars begin to be about 40LY apart and am now at the bottom of the plain where it is the same. just traveling through the disc like that takes a lot of time so, like I said, I understand now that 65KLY is sort of a big deal in distance from home now.

Maybe there should be a 65K LY list, like the Sagittarius A* visitors list :)

I wouldn't like to guess how many players have crossed the 65K line, it doesn't seem to be something that most players aim for... Sag-A* has had hundreds of visitors, but it seems only a few explorers continue all the way across. I can name about 6 !

I'm willing to make a guess. Quite recently I finished a reasonably extensive survey of >65K systems.
I then noticed about 10 different commander names.

If I take into account that I probably missed some names, and there are some commanders that have not yet sold their data, i estimate about 25 in total.

I'm noticing more and more people going up that way of late. I was actually commenting to the other FGE members over the weekend that it feels like Beagle Point is becoming the new Sag A.

I'm getting close to it. I reached the outer edge of the Scutum-Centaurus arm yesterday and am currently working my way back to a point where I can cross over to the Sagittarius arm to complete the trip. My target is only 7kly away, but it's going to take another 26kly to get there.

As for other explorers, I've seen about 5 names on stars/planets out this way.

Sign me up! I went there back in June/July I think:

You were one of the ones I knew :)

Off the top of my head,

CMDR Kamzel (Erimus) - 18th Jan. 3301
CMDR big_bad_lynx - 20th Jan. 3301
CMDR Rekal - (Not 100% sure if he made it all the way)
CMDR Abdul Thakir-Thomson (ATT) - 21st Feb. 3301
CMDR Allitnil - 14th March 3301 ?
CMDR Barefoot Bandit - 28th June 3301 ?
CMDR Stulli - 28th June 3301 ?
CMDR Marlon Blake - 20th July 3301 ?
CMDR Akira Masakari - 18th Oct. 3301 ?

Pretty sure there are a dozen more names out there by now too.

Edit:
Honourable menton to R4nger0, who reached 58K in a Sidewinder but couldn't get across the Abyss in it.

Other CMDRs I know of:

* Stupid Hippy (saw him exploring on the edge a month ago or so)
* Witzo (Says he reached Beagle Point approx a week before Oct 04)
* Svenno (Documented in the Lonliest Planet thread I think. Last entry for that is April)

Svenno has recorded the furthest out point that I've heard of. Forget how far, but its supposed to be further out than the Treehouse.
Stupid Hippy was picking up some POIs that Svenno failed to bring home in an Anaconda. I strongly suspect he me made the 65K mark.
Witzo reported to the FGE that he'd made it to Beagle Point recently.

Theres also some CMDRs working on the 65K in the Far Rim Meetup thread I think.

Both CMDR Stulli and I made it to 65k earlier than the 28th of June, though that was the trilateral meeting point date. I'll check and see what date it was for me, I think it's bout a week earlier (but close).

I still haven't made it back - and probably won't both a lot of others, as my path is taking me th e"long way a around" following the spiral arm back to the bubble, rather than a straight line. I'm currently at about the 2/5 of the way back mark.

20th of June for me, my EDDiscovery logs are gone form that time, unfortunately, as ED screwed up and needed a re-install a few months back, and I forgot to back up my logs, but I did find my post about it here.

Anyway, back to getting back, I need to make sure that *something* I scanned beyond 65k Ly will keep my tag! Seems a lot of people doing extensive exploration in the area!

I'll be back with a maxxed range Anaconda at some stage, I want to follow the spiral arm out as far as I can get.

Would need to start a new thread, as the keeper of the thread needs to be the owner, if Pipestein isn't up for it.

BTW, what's your jump range Pipestein? If you have 30Ly you should be ok to hit 65k - though it'll be tricky...
