7,500 Light year hop planned

Hehe! Yes, indeed, "travel complacency" is a very real thing. :)

Personally I prefer to filter out the brown dwarfs. They have a surprisingly large exclusion zone, relative to their radius, and of course are not scoopable. They're also far less likely to have anything interesting orbiting them. So I consider them to be bad news, all around.

They have the exclusion radius of a star without being anywhere near as big as one. I don't filter them out because I'm lazy and it's netting me a chunk of "First discovered by". [smile]

The repair limpets are great, I took 20 but fired one in error before I even left the bubble (don't ask!) and then used the second after my brown dwarf run in. 18 repair limpets and 3,200 AFMS repair "units" will get me safely to the Formindine rift. I might make a small diversion to Heart Sector IR-V b2-0 and park at farside base overnight. Not sure yet, it depends how far off my route it is.

Overall, it's going well and it's a bit odd to look at the return trip and see I'm over 5,000 LY away.

Day 4

Not much to report for day 4, I didn't get as many jumps in as I'd have liked due to a few shipboard housekeeping tasks but at least this time there were no scooping incidents and everything is in good shape.

I'm 1,3655.65LY from my destination although I'm going to take a slight detour to CoR listening post Alpha, something I've been wanting to visit for some months and as that's only 629.44 LY away, or 32 jumps I should make that tomorrow night.

From here on in I'm going to slow down the pace, if there is something out here, settlements, Raxxla, generation ships, etc, I don't want to miss it by speed jumping through systems. Mind you, I do now wonder if Raxxla really exists, I find it hard that anyone could have come out this far without the older hyperdrive tearing itself apart. These modern frameshift devices are just so much quicker, nearly 6,000 LY in just four days, that's unbelievable even knowing how good these drives are.

I also discovered that it's possible to rename bookmarks, I never knew this! It certainly makes things a lot easier, especially as I want to make sure that I visit a few key places while I'm out this way. I'm still not sure how long I'm staying for and it looks like there is a base only a dozen jumps from my original destination. I'm not sure what it'll hold but it'll be good to see another face and hopefully drop off my two "passengers" plus grab a real live shower there. On board ships systems are good but real showers are better!

Day 5 - 7,500 Light years!

And I made it, 7,500 LY from home!

It wasn't a bad trip, I'm currently docked at the farsight expedition base and I've been able to fix the power plant and the AFMS system as well as restock the AFMS. I did cause a small amount of damage when supercharging the FSD so lesson learnt there. It's been a fun trip out here and farisight base is absolutely gorgeous. I've still got a few more things I want to go visit while I'm all the way out here so I'll be doing a lot more exploring before I head back, I might even travel a little further out to near Decision point.
