After a two-hour cat-and-mouse game where my wing played defense against an onslaught of Bounty Hunters (at least 3 of which paid a rebuy) who came after the largest player-bounty in the history of Elite Dangerous, the final showdown at Asterope's nav beacon in Open Play resulted in my destruction at the hands of CMDR Plotu and his team at BSEC. Congratulations and GG - it was a pleasure to fight you.

A few special thanks:

- My "secret service" wingmates CMDRs Jurloo, Raghav102, and James Clark Ross. I could not have asked for better protection and teamwork. You guys were AMAZING. AlexMG1 - your logistical support was also invaluable.

- All "friendly" CMDRs who fought valiantly on my side, or even just watched, cheered, and supported us; we stopped mid-fight at some point to take some screenshots together after a friendly pulled me ... hope someone has some good shots to post ... would love to see them! (Mine are very dark and kinda meh)

- All bounty hunters who came after me - you fought valiantly, be it in pack-hound Corsairs, force-shell-cannon Challengers, or even a torpedo Panther Mk2 (that was awesome) ... you did great and fought clean. GG to you all.

- The Continental Staff, including CMDR Drierash, who arranged for the bounty and made the event possible.

Player-driven situations, coordinations, & encounters like these ^ are what 'sandbox' MMOs are all about. Not so easy to do quite as often within vast SPACE game though.
Extra special o7 salute to YOU & all who participated!
Now if only there was something in Elite Dangerous to purchase ( or use ) all that 72 bill credits on.... :unsure:

Watched the stream, it was probably the most exciting Elite thing I’ve seen in… well, ever.
Really great job everyone, and thanks Mechan for choosing to end with the “furball” - jumping in to a named nav beacon and staying until death or glory :) Great way to conclude an amazing event.

It would be amazing if something in this playstyle could be a CG, or a more prominent part of the game somehow. An extension of the “system news” about bounties maybe? Location rumours and informants like bounty missions, but tagging wanted, notorious players?

Looks like everyone had a jolly good time claiming the bounty on Mechan's head, but it seems like there's a certain Cmdr who is letting Mechan live rent free in a luxury suite in his head.

Wow.. seems like people got quite whiny :D My advice to them, don't take videogame too serious and, most importantly, don't confuse a game with real life. Just chill :)

A little sad that the final showdown instance got absolutely obliterated by that one guy who interdicted you before the nav drop. Had a pretty loaded beacon arena within the same SC connection you landed in, which later got swapped out.

At least I had visual of you for roughly 4 seconds in SC. That's a win in terms of instancing already! :,)

I'd say taking yourself not too seriously in the context of a video game is even more important. It's okay to take a game somewhat serious if you're passionate about it, but going on a crusade for it or acting holier-than-thou is a surefire way you eiither be disliked or get mocked, or both. I can think of a few current or former Elite content creators that are or were either dangerously close to that threshold or outright left it behind in the dust. I assume often they don't even notice because their follwer bubbles will always applaud them no matter what.

On the other hand taking nothing seriously, making everything a meme and mocking everyone and everything all the time is as bad as well and is probably the yang to taking-things-too-seriously's yin.

It's a good thing that, in the end, everyone is kind of a good sport about this thing, so there you go. Even if it turned out to be a fun event for those involved (I assume it has), the lead-up to it was kind of... meh. Chill out, too much salt isn't good for your health.

Instancing was the the Final Boss.
