75HZ Monitor Needed?

Rifters,

ANOTHER thing I need to buy I just realized is a monitor, before my RIFT arrives. Can you please clarify something. Buried among all the reading I have done in the stickies - something about having to match resolution? So the RIFT wants 75HZ but most flat screens are 60HZ. So please let me know, do I need to ensure I get a flatscreen that is 75HZ, and/or 90HZ for the eventual CV1?

And if so, can you throw me some suggestions on monitors please?

I believe 75Hz was just a workaround to ger direct mode to work.

the rift runs at 75hz in elite in extended and my tv runs at 60.. AFAIK in elite currently direct mode does not work properly

when direct mode does work properly it will run at 75hz regardless of your monitor refresh.

It will not be linked to your monitor so do not worry

Like the others before, running a 60hz monitor Rift runs @75 with Elite no problem

...and so just to wrap things up - you do NOT need a special monitor to run a Rift.

Yeah, that's just one of the possible failure cases to diagnose. I use a TV operating at who knows what refresh rate, it doesn't affect the rift in extended mode because the nvidia control panel has separate controls for refresh rate. You can also check in graphics settings to see what the rift's actual refresh rate is.
