PvP 900 Distant World 2 explorers have been destroyed by my forces, but I wish to propose a truce

As most are aware, the Distant Worlds 2 (DW2) expedition is currently underway.

Unfortunately, DW2 experienced a rocky start, beginning with the tragic Pallaeni Massacre that took place the very first day. As if that were not heartbreaking enough, an elite assault force began hunting expedition explorers across the galaxy and many more commanders have lost their ship as a result.

In total (as of now), a whopping 898 explorers have been destroyed so far, and the number continues to grow. Evidence of the metric can be seen by looking at the Distant Ganks 2 kill count logs aggregated here: http://roaweb20161109100616.azurewebsites.net/Static/AllKills?from=2019-01-13&to=2099-01-14 (warning slow load time).

What you may not be aware of is that I, The Overlord Zarek Null, have the power to bring all of this needless suffering to an end. The Distant Ganks 2 fleet? They report to ME. They are the commanders that are slaughtering explorers by the hundreds.

I am not an unreasonable person. This assault was initiated for political reasons, and though I had to use overwhelming force in order to get your attention, all I ever really wanted was a civilized, diplomatic solution.

Peace is still within reach. For this reason, I wish to reach out to DW2 leadership and schedule a (Discord) meeting to discuss a non- violent resolution to this harrowing conflict. Or, you can ignore my offer, validating the long held suspicion that DW2 leadership holds a blatant disregard for human life, and stand idly by, witnessing hundreds more die due to your stubborn close-mindedness. The choice is yours.

Sincerely,

Zarek Null

Overlord of the Galaxy

I don't really care.

Never heard of you before and I've been playing since day 1 of alpha. How's being a "grey man" working out for you?

Have you ever heard of the Smiling Dog Crew (SDC)? Ryan is veteran SDC leadership and has been for years.

If you haven't heard of SDC in four years of piloting, then you are simply out-of-touch with the major happenings within the open-play galaxy, and are in a weak position to be making definitive statements about who is and is not widely known.

SDC has probably had more international gaming press coverage than any other PvP group in the history of Elite.

Now do tell us your credentials, Mr. Alpha 1...

Honoured that a true celeb would reply to my post...any chance you can get me Cartmans autograph?
When you have to resort to the "Do you know who I am?!" old chestnut then it's not me who's in the weak position ;)

i've never heard of them either, but then again no one has heard of me.

i do have a claim to fame though. i suggested the name Colonia for where Jaques ended up, yes little old me. and that's what it became. and that's a name that's infinitely more well known in elite than your kennel club. so in a roundabout way, i win. git gud :)

Is it too late to join DW2? I know they said they would be going slow, but I won't be able to make it out there until maybe next month. I want to catch up to the wagon train and do some exploring! I thought it was boring at first but I did my 5000ly to unlock Palin and explored to break the monotony and the bug bit me. I even like mapping!

In case you're serious - this is the wrong thread for that. Check https://www.distantworlds2.space/info-index

In case you were trolling - that was too subtle for this thread.

The first post was very sweet. The OP's and friends outraged replies increased the level of cringe at a breakneck speed though. Guys, you're supposed to be the internet-savy memelords fighting against the forum spergs -- well you're really, catastrophically, failing here.

It truly is cringe-worthy isn't it.

Especially cringey is the Null character roleplaying stuff. Ewwww. *cringe*

Haha your legacy of tagging some rocky world in a backwoods system that zero people will ever see or care about. What an incredible legacy you have!

Beats absolutely nothing you'll leave behind!

Ahh, and apparently you're a member or something of SDC or something..?

Never knowingly met one.

Well mr Null!

I have fair understaning for those who roleplay in open and decide to take on the role as pirate, freedom fighter political assasinator or whatever.

But since the days of DD, roleplay came with rules (that you followed since you dont want to be an complete ***.. ). In role play you also had to stick with your character. If he was a evil troll, and you acted like a fairy, you were out of bounds and the GM would let you have it.

If you are role playing you should stick to the role you have set, but for what i seen , your group aint role playing , you are just plain griefing
And doing it in a way people just will abandon open and lock themselfs into PG..
You dont act resonable to the settings of the game. Sadly that just dont adds to the game.

If you had stated as an example that "we see the DW2 as a discrase to our way of life in the bubble and we will attack any members of the fleet accordingly, well that would have been one thing, but as i can understand you just go for easy kill on anyone in open.

And now you come here and try to "act cool" after the mass exodus to PG.
Had you played it well , we could have co-existed and you could have been a grain of salt that had added some flavour to open, but as now.. frankly what you are out to isnt putting a bit of salt into the mix.. i just smell something rottening.. and i smell the fear from you griefers, fear of not having anyone to grief..

You still have a chance to do it right, set up some fair rules, communicate (no, your monologue here dont count, beacuse you really said nothing) Heck, google IS and you learn that even terrorsist follow a pattern and act inside their role and beliefs.. do the same, If you want to go from griefers to a feared group that people dont laughf at, be resonable.. and act inside the role.

He's not going to tell you who he is, believe me he has nothing to learn from you lot. ;)
