There's enough of a probability of a JP 93 dlc coming in the next 6 months or so that I wanted to share my hopes and concers. I dont want Frontier to miss the ball on this one so I want to get my thoughts out there for them to see.
So far the dlc's have gotten better from Dr Wu to Claire's Sanctuary. Im sure if we get 93 it will be better still, but here's what I dont want to see.... I dont want to see Frontier do something lackluster that looks like the rest of the game. I dont want to be put on a blank nublar site starting from scratch and be told I have to research everything and build a JP from the ground up. If they go this route with just the same buildings with different skins with all the same limitations we already have in the game this isnt going to live up to the hype. If they go this route we will end up with the same type of ugly cluttered park like all other campaign islands trying to reach a 5 star rating just to unlock a few skins and the safari explorer version of the jurassic tour. Yes we'll get the skins we want and the safari explorer with road path but that's all we'll end up getting without a new experience. That's basically what we got with the Claire dlc.... A small stay on nublar north with a smoking volcano, but in the end we were just 5 staring another park on sanctuary island to get some new stuff.
This is what I hope we get instead.... I hope Frontier goes all out and truly recreates a fully formed Jurassic Park with maybe a few vacant spots we could add onto with something new we havent seen before. Basically we need a Jurassic Park that is mapped out and completely landscaped to look like Jurassic Park when we start. Something that matches the brochure maps we have online. We need a waterfall heli pad, a new fence gate that walking paths can be laid through, the gali plains surrounded by mountains, the hilly fields and lake of the brachi and para's, a roadway leading to an east dock, the large king kong Jurassic Park gates for the safari tour to drive through at the beginning of the tour, the raptor paddock from the movie, the visitor center, a safari lodge hotel with swimming pools and tennis courts, a new restaurant, the aviary even if we dont have flying dinos for it yet, the tunnel through the mountains that the safari tour drives through to get to the Rex paddock, the concrete motes for the Rex paddock, the bathroom at the Rex paddock, the maintenance shed and path muldoon dies on, the waterfall next to the east dock road that Nedry encounters the dilo on..... This dlc needs to be Jurassic Park right from the get go. I want to jump into it and be hit with so much nostalgia that my eyes start to tear up. If they can even change the park management screen so we get it to look like the JP control room that would be a nice touch. We need the game's launch trailer InGen skin for the helicopter. Honestly we need this campaign to be Ranger driven so that the Rangers do all the tranqing and not the chopper because that wasn't seen in the movie or the book. This is also an opportunity for them to add a "guest rescue" mechanic into the game for the Ranger Jeeps or the Helicopter, even if for example this only takes place at the end of the campaign when they escape the Visitor's Center.
As far as storyline for it they could start with some of the events of the movie and book where we have to move raptors with an old fashioned land based cage and vehicle. They could even start earlier with a scenario where they break out of their normal paddock so they have to be sedated by Ranger's and then moved with a cargo truck (close to the tour trucks we have now just with a transport crate on the back) to their security pen. This is how we would get the pre-made raptor sec pen paddock from the movie. Of course when moving the last raptor something goes wrong and we have an employee death. This obviously would be a hit to finances and which would lead to us bringing the original tour guests in. Going through the timeline of the movie could open up tons of new features to the game that we dont have now. For example we could get the goat feeder with a goat on a chain and they could add in the idea that along with the goat when you release it on command it releases some type of pheromone lure to get the Rex's attention drawn to the feeder quicker. This would be a type of scent lure that only triggers if you manually dispense food from a feeder. They could also allow a new road tool with the path tools for the east dock and other park roads so they you could recreate the Nedry scene in some fashion. At the end of the campaign we would need Lethal Measures, so actual shotguns for the Rangers to attempt to kill rampaging Raptors. Along with this they'll need to add Robert Muldoon and Gerry Harding as people that appear in the Ranger Jeeps instead of the generic people we have right now.
I think they could basically make this an open ended campaign style dlc where you choose different scenario's to play through. You could have a cannon version that leads to disaster and an ultimate guest rescue. Then you could have a changing history play through where added measure you unlock in the cannon version allow the tour to go without failure and the park gets signed off on.
The end result to this type of setup where we start with a fully made and detailed Jurassic Park is that once we complete this campaign we will have lots of extra things we can carry over to our other islands. Such as:
Safari Explorer Tour with paved road electronic track
King Kong Jurassic Park Gates (place-able anywhere on a tour track) for the tour trucks to drive through
Lure Scents added to manual dispension of feeders to get dinosaurs to come out during a tour (something possibly trigger-able while riding or driving a tour vehicle) Or Chained goat feeders to guarantee Rex comes to eat it at that spot
Ranger Jeeps that can Tranq and Revive
Land Based Cargo Crate Transport
Concrete motes that you can add to a fence line
Raptors Jumping or climbing out of fences (maybe make it a gene that allows this) so they must be placed in JP pen or a new Higher Fence put into the game
Actual Roads for vehicles in the paths menu
Gates you can place on top of paths or road ways that guest or vehicles can walk through
New Bathroom needs for guests
Lethal Weapons for Rangers
Guest Rescue system either from Rangers or Choppers
New Tunnels we could build for our tour paths to go through
Signs for us to place like East Dock and Paddock Signs
Changeable Ranger opertators, just ike we change the Jeep skin we should be able to change drivers and operators of Rangers and other vehicles to switch them to Muldoon, Gerry Harding, Ray Arnold, etc..
There's alot more that they could add that im not going to list. But basically this is an opportunity to add tons of new features into this game and new design features for park builds. I know we'll all be happy with the safari tour, visitor center, and JP skins. But im hoping by sharing these ideas we get A LOT more than just that. It's such a golden opportunity.
This post is meant to be fun about what could be done. So please dont turn it into an argumenative thread about asking too much or too little. Or debating what the devs can and cannot do. These are just possibilities here.
