Hardware & Technical A $450 12 core 4.6Ghz CPU to match the Pimax 8K and next gen GPU's early next year...

This is a rumor - not fact

is it possible...
GF has reported the 12nm node gives >10% gain in performance over 16nm (which performs better than ryzens current 14nm), so that gets the base at around 4.2Ghz, but 4.6Ghz still seems a stretch
The 12nm node gives 15% reduction in density, squeezing in 50% more cores will mean a bigger die size.

A while ago AMD did state the ryzen was there worst point in this architecture, meaning it's 1st gen and subsequent generations will see IPC and clock improvements.

For clarity, I am not an AMD fan boy, I have a vested interest in both AMD and Intel and so far both have made me a happy chappy!
I do like to see AMD coming back though, healthy competition gives us more performance at lower prices, it is the best thing for us gamers

Not really a VR topic.

When the Pimax 8K lands on my door step next year, the next gen ryzen will be available and the 8 core 9th gen intel will at least be news. (expect intel to have 8 core desktop parts available within 6 months)
As I will likely upgrade my PC around that time and I suspect other Pimax 8K backers might be considering an upgrade or at least like to know what options will be available, I consider it relevant.

According to the AMD reddit the alleged leak was a deliberate fake troll, that suckered in a number of tech sites.

So dont build your hopes up people.

That's pretty amazing, OP. Gonna be a while before I look into it, though, as I just plugged a brand spanking new i7-7820x in my PC just last month and that thing frickin blazes. I can't imagine needing more horsepower; paired with a new 1080 ti it'll be years before I need to upgrade.
