A barrier between more income for Frontier Developments?

Hi All, but this is really for FD.... as a suggestion.

I contacted support for a query I had: I simply wanted to purchase another commander (licence) to play Elite Dangerous Horizons...... I'm way-out-in-the-nether-reaches-of-the-galaxy and would like another 'bubble' commander (NOT asking for a discount or anything)

Here's supports' reply (clear although a little unexpected):

'Thanks for getting in touch. Each Frontier/Elite Dangerous account can contain only one commander, so in order to play a second one you will need to purchase the game again on a new Frontier account and email address. From there it's a case of logging in to the game launcher with this second account in order to play your second commander. :)'

Now what I really don't get is why Frontier can't arrange for players to purchase a second commander (or even more) in our individual Frontier Store Account. The need for a second set of contact details, starting with a new email address seems restrictive and counter-intuitive. It's almost as if Frontier are discouraging players (customers) from purchasing another commander slot. Not everyone has or wants to have multiple email accounts and online identities. Cummon Frontier...PLEASE add the ability for us to purchase more than just paint jobs and holo-me kit from the store (Easily).

(I'm not setting up another email account JUST for a new commander!!! ... so I'll just hang on to my hard earned cash for now!!! [down] [knocked out])

I totally agree, that this should be possible. One email/user account should be able to have multiple commanders. I definitely dont want to create another email just to do this. So, why isn't this a thing though? Is there something negative about having multiple commanders under one account? And, sure, each commander's in-store purchases should only effect that commander.
Where is the downside? Or is it just a bit lame they haven't bothered to set that up? In that case, they dont need that much of my cash.
Will check out the + thing though, thanks!

While another Frontier account is necessary, multiple Frontier accounts can be linked to a single e-mail address - if the e-mail provider permits aliases, which gmail does, i.e. user@gmail.com; user+CMDR#1@gmail.com; user+CMDR#2@gmail.com will be able to be used to create three Frontier accounts but e-mails from Frontier will all be received by the core e-mail account, i.e. user@gmail.com
