A beginner's remarks about piracy

So I tried piracy out for the first time a few days ago in my Clipper. Here are a few things I noticed.
1. It's Hard.
2. It's difficult.
3. It's not easy.
4. Firing at the same time as you scan does not work as your target will die before you can complete the scan.
5. Interdictions seem fairly balanced, I lost about a quarter. I do think Authority should (maybe?) interdict you and if you interdict them they should submit so they can fight the law.
6. Firing the wrong kind of limpets or limpets instead of lasers does NOT work. I must have wasted half of my limpets with that. :(
7. Pirating in the same system you want to sell your goods in is another bad idea. You'll eventually become hostile and wanted and then as soon as you drop out at the station a wing of police anacondas and vipers will attack you.
8. Shieldless type 7s take less than 2 seconds to destroy. :p
9. Having good shields and collectors with a long range is nice, as you can scoop cargo faster even if the Police arrive.
10. Targeting modules doesn't seem to work well. ADVICE WANTED!

I noticed that I did improve in my short session. (From 5 tons to 20!:D) and I could probably figure it out, but are there any good guides to being a pirate to make my life easier?

Haha, finally someone that appreciate the effort of a pirate...

You should join The Code to learn more :p

Since I was hoping to dabble a bit in Piracy (capital P deserved, as I intend to be a proper Pirate, not a killer maniac) at some point I was hoping you'd have some more tips. I'm especially curious about points 1-3. OK, it's hard... but why do you say that?

I would, if my internet connection permitted it. :( As it is, I will content myself with the Raiders of Kamito.

Mostly because I'm a noob. :D Destroying ships before they drop cargo happens a lot with me, and I'm not used to it so my fire groups are weird and I often shoot the wrong thing. Also if I target a module then I never destroy it before I destroy the hull.

+1 OP for giving it a go! :)

Easy now tiger, just relax and be gentle! :D

I get in close to them and target the powerplant only. Make sure of your shot before you take it, or you'll end up hitting the hull.
Or think about using smaller weapons - my Cobra has 2 medium gimballed pulse lasers and a couple of small minicannons which are just fine for taking little chunks out of your target without exploding them!
