A better version of telepresence

The telepresence thing seems to really bother a lot of people. I sort of had an idea where i could work identical to how it is planned but be totally lore and gameplay friendly.

Anyone ever watched The Justice League? Or Batman Beyond? Or The Zeta Project? Do you remember their blank training droids that could holographically project an identity over the droid? Or......Zeta himself(same thing)

So.....how about HoloDroids? It would even allow crew to walk around if space legs ever become a thing

As cool as it sounds, this would just end up upsetting another section of people who would deem this completely unexceptionable on the grounds of things.
I think it's best to leave the game design to the developers.

but really.. how long would it take a telepresence signal to go from SOL to Colonia and back again? without using nonsense law abusing witch space?

:D

Firstly, tele-presence is used for SRV turrets and SLF. Multi-crew uses a tele-presence like game-play feature. It doesn't use actual tele-presence.

Secondly, QE doesn't really work that way. It can only transmit information instantly back to you. Imagine you have a bag with two stones in it, one black and one white. You grab one without looking and your buddy takes the bag all the way to Beagle Point. Once he's had enough time to get there, you look at your stone. You instantly know what color stone he has! It doesn't really mean you can transmit information back and forth. It's a bit more complicated in quantum mechanics, as you "looking at your stone" was thought to collapse the wave-function and resolve the superposition of "your buddy having a black and white stone at the same time."

Of course, this is a sci-fi game. Other principles of physics have been smoothed over before. :)

Perhaps. But have you ever heard of Super-Fancy-Magic Quantum Entanglement. Cause it can do the job just fine. Normal Quantum Entanglement is for chumps.

But then my friends can't see my awesome avatar! So forget that! EDIT: Ooooh, wait, now I know what you're talking about. Gotcha.

Quantum entanglement would work just fine. All that needs to be transfered are 0s and 1s.

But honestly....what kinda persone needs a real life scientific explanation for mechanics in a video game. SMH

Hence the qualifier at the end of my message! My main point is that multi-crew doesn't use tele-presence. It takes a sledgehammer and tunnels through the fourth wall to wherever your destination is.

Kyennamo, not really. The "spooky action at a distance" was a thought experiment to show absurd problems with mechanics Einstein was working with. Just like Schrodinger's Cat. The point of that idea was to show something must be wrong with the theory because a cat can't be alive and dead at the same time.

Even if you see the result of some state change at your end, you can't know exactly what the other person did. QE only appears to transmit information instantly when researchers get back together to check their notes.

It's pretty obvious Frontier has decided this is the route they're going to take. This isn't going to be like ship transfers folks. It's here to stay. Gonna have to come to terms with it in whatever way best suits you.
