a better way to convert legacy mods IMO

Hello so I have quite a few grandfathered mods and needless to say I've checked the numbers for all my multicannons and found out that the new grade 5 multicannons for the new engineering system are better at grade 5, but wait I already went through a massive grind to get my old mods to the best possible damage and efficiency, etc by using the old engineering method. I honestly feel like I've already done the grind to get all my mods on all my ships to be as good as they could possibly, using the old system for engineering that is. And because of that I don't feel like I should have to grind mefs or anything else now considering how many grade 5 materials I now need just to upgrade all of my stuff again. I spent so many hours collecting materials and now it feels like all those hours mean nothing.

TLDR I feel like I've already gone through the trouble of gathering materials to get the best possible mods I could get using the old engineering mechanics and it took a long time and now I don't want to have to do it all over again.

My solution, I would like to be able to convert all of my legacy mods into the best possible mods that are available now, meaning if I have a grade 5 oc legacy multicannon I think converting it should give me the fully upgraded grade 5 oc multicannon that is available now.

So to sum it please let grandfathered mods be converted into the best possible mod of that type, meaning if someone has a grade 3 dirty drive legacy mod, then they should be able to convert to a fully maxed out grade 3 dirtydrive in the new engineering system and if someone has a grade 4 efficiency mod for their beam laser then let them convert into a fully maxed grade 4 beam laser in the new system, etc.

I think this would be nice for players who don't want to go the grind that we have already been through.

P.S. I'm aware that a thread asking for this already exist but honestly I can't find it anywhere I just remember seeing it a while back if someone could link that to me I would greatly appreciate it. also please frontier don't make me go all those grinds on all my ships again.

So converting a legacy module should make it better? What is the logic behind that?

I do understand that you could have made lots of rolls before on G5 to get a good roll, but they are still the same, they work the same, have the same stats as before, and if you want the best, you have the option too convert them and then put in some more work, this can be seen as you are now doing a G6 roll on the legacy mod. So you get to keep some of the time and effort spent on this, the other way is to simply upgrade new weapons/modules and leave the old stuff if they are good enough.

This is like asking a game that has a level cap and you have reached the top level, then they launches an expansion, that raises the level cap, and now you want to get upgraded to the new level cap for free, using the logic that you have already put alot of effort to reach the old level cap.

I've not converted a single legacy mod to the new system.
I have completed engineering my fleet and 120 stored modules to grade 5 just before Eng2.0.
I took me nearly 18 months and all of my available play time to complete.

Then somebody moved the goalposts and thought it would be a great idea for me to do it all again only now at the grade 5 level. Potentially in some cases for just a few percent of difference. Plus mostly looking for HG Emissions (omg not again) or wasting materials with a joke trader who would further waste the time I had spent collecting with dodgy material conversion rates.

At other times the schematics available are just plain worse and have no additional secondary properties which I feel added flavour to the old system and in some cases just not quite worth the reroll of the module.
Automatic conversion to the new system would alleviate some gripes around here, my own included.

But if auto conversion is ever looked at please let me select my new experimentals while doing so!

It isn't mandatory you know? It's your own problem if you feel the need to get the absolute best, even if like you said, it's only "a few percent of difference". It would also be insane to let someone, like me, who doesn't really care about the max grade, achieve perfection from ONE engineering role. I mean, with the old system we could take any part and G5 it with one role and be done with it, and under your system that would convert it to its maximum potential. That isn't fair to anyone who never had that option before. Plus, the new engineering effects are all upgrades, so it's a welcome change.

they do have the same stats as before this is true, but in the case the level cap wasn't raised it was altered meaning I already hit the level cap and it took me a lot of material grinding to do so and a level 5 oc weapon with the new system can get upto 20 percent more damage than an old oc weapon. This is quite a bit, I don't like knowing that I grinded to have the best modules only to find that when I grinded for my resources it didn't matter. But if I grinded now it would matter, so the fact that I grinded before the new engineers hits means that I get less for the exact same amount of work that a player who is grinding towards the engineers now would get.
