A big Expansion Pack?

We didn't get any News about a new DLC in a long Time but it's known that they are working on something. Do you think it is possible that they are already working on a big Expansion Pack and if that's the case, what could it include? Also if there will be a big Expansion Pack, when will it most likely be ready to be released?

I think if we will get a big Expansion it will be likely to be either the often requested Marine Pack or a Bird Pack but I would be interested what else could be included in a big Pack.

I hope they will. I would be happy with around 20 new animals (preferably endangared or vulnerable), 2 new scenery packs and at least 5 new Campaign scenarios. Just like it was in zoo tycoon.
I CRAVE for more african ungulates and South east asian fauna.
I would be also very happy with more diversity in exibit animals with rodents and small birds especially. And the possibility of merging exibits to make them bigger.

I don't expect a bigger DLC package, I don't want to be disappointed and the DLC is not that important to me either, because there are enough other problems in the game that I have in focus.

But I assume that the update will bring some improvements and maybe, if everything goes well, also one for the blueprints. (I know that they are working on it, but I know that every update also brings errors into the game and it does not necessarily work immediately.)

But that there will be more animals .. They had fooled me violently with the surprise announcement last year shortly after the game appeared when I assumed we would get something nice as a small compensation, because the game was so unfinished and partly not playable.
And even with the small selection in the last pack, I was not so enthusiastic because I was hoping for more there too. (The DLCs were very nice anyway)

That's why I don't expect more than 4 - 5 animals, many components and maybe one or two scenarios.

The "usual" DLC stops if you start from the last two.

I just want to pack the Frontier a lot in a big update, be it maybe an improvement for the construction tools, the paths are no longer so tricky, the animals get smaller hit boxes, additional functions such as guided tours, viewpoints, new animations for existing animals, all Trees can be climbed and and and ...

So that the game from the ground up offers more and even better options.

I can't say what comes in, of course, but most of the updates have always been great, if you leave out the mistakes that have crept in. Or the worse improvements.

I would be so thrilled if there is a bigger pack on the way! I would want it to come with an update that gives us colour variations for lots of species in the game. Bonus wants would be new diving animations for aquatic animals, and suckling animations for juvenile mammals. Maybe also different sized/shaped exhibits as the clever person who thought that up on the forums suggested.

My idea of the perfect big DLC would have 10+ animals and lots of new plants/logs/rocks and back of house zoo items (like rakes, dumpsters, troughs, wheelie bins, gates, etc) and some more versatile animal signage and banners. I would love to have an aviary introduced too, with different birds (raptor aviary with one species, or mixed aviaries with birds by region) in “exhibits” that work like the JWE Pteranodon

I’m personally not interested in aquarium species like cetaceans and fish (unless they are ambient fish for aquatic enrichment). I would love to have semi-aquatics, like seals, penguins and otters. Only exception to fully aquatic would be manatees/dugongs.

Animal wise I would love absolutely anything we get. Frontier’s animal models are always spectacular, and if they implement coat variations in newly added species from here out I would be delighted. To throw out some species: fossa, coati, river otter, meerkat, clouded leopard, moose, maned wolf, mountain lion, toucan and a crowned crane of some sort are my top 10.

If I hadn't seen potential leaks and if the steam data base wouldn't show two dlcs in the making already, I'd say: Yes, we get something bigger. But with what it is now, I'm afraid it's only the pandemic and other issues that silence Frontier for so long. I'm afraid the non-communication will lead to a storm, as people are getting their hopes up for something big. If we only get a regular dlc then, after the long time of silence... oh oh.

I would absolutely love some ambient Fish. Crabs and other small aquatic Animals would also be great as Effects. I am building a Climbing Area above Water and thought yesterday that some small Crabs and other Animals would be perfect there. And I absolutely agree that we need a Manatee or a Dugong. I would prefer the Manatee in the Game.

We do really need this. I really want bigger Exhibits for Iguanas.

This would also be great. We should also get a few more Objects to design the Enclosures. A Tire would be nice that isn't Enrichment, so we can place it on Ropes and other Stuff. I think it would be possible to make a good customized Scratching Post for Big Cats with Tires and maybe it would also be possible to build some Tunnels for small Animals to walk trough and sleep in them.
Also flying Birds would be really nice. I would love it if they would be like normal Animals but maybe this will not be possible if they are supposed to fly.

Thanks for the Information. I thought they are only working on one DLC. It would be nice if we get one or two extra Animals for the long Waiting Time. Hopefully the other People won't be too mad if it will be only something small. I hope we will get some official Information soon. I would really like to see some new Animals or at least Plants even if we still need to wait multiple Weeks until it's finished

I would be happy with an expansion pack that brings in a large section of Planco type building elements especially in smaller sizes so finer details can be created in your zoo's. Using switch covers for fillers only goes so far.

I don't expect anything special for the next DLC. I do expect a very salty reaction from the community because of the expectations running wild.

Frontier could use this salt in a productive manner and release a Lake Natron DLC, named after a salt lake in vicinity of the Serengeti. This DLC could include animals such as the black rhino, Caracal, Olive baboon and impala, some plants and red water.

Alternatively, Frontier could stop torturing us and bring communication with the community back to life

I wish I could like this comment more than once... You made my day, thank you! :D

I would rather keep my expectations low and hopefully be surprised than get my hopes up only to be disappointed.

Once again I think the customer relationship and community management is starting to get extremely frustrating.

I don’t even want them to spoil surprises just say yes, we are here and we are working on something, just hang on in there.

What I don’t understand is why people like to speculate that much, build up a lot of hype ond hope, just to be disappointed in the end and expressing their dissatisfaction in long forum discussions just because their high expectations were not fulfilled or their favorite or expected (based on what?) animals were not included.

Just be patient, keep it realistic (20 new animals??) and don’t expect too much. This way, you can enjoy whatever the next DLC will bring wholeheartedly. I am tremendously looking forward to it, but don’t expect anything in particular - except for the new skin variations, which were already announced a while ago. I know I will be very happy with the new DLC based on the last two - no matter what they will contain.

Frontier and expansion packs? :D
But if there was an expansion pack to come out, I would love it to be Marine Mania.
I agree with what @markun said, rather than keeping expectations high and being disappointed, it's much better to keep expectations low and be surprised more.
For example, I had so many expectations for a Marine expansion, but I hardly have any expectations right now.

I got no more hope /expectations of getting a Great White shark even if they planet zoo are going to release a marine expansion packs. I am sure Great White shark will not be included..

Since Great White shark can't survive in captivity or real life marine parks ...

And they are not longer allowed in aquariums and marine park ... They can't survive in captivity from what I read on the internet . But I still expecting a miracle since Great White shark is pretty much a popular animal for most of us

But as I've mentioned multiple times in the Forum: the Bull Shark would be a great Replacement for it, which can survive in Captivity 🦈

Yes, the great whites cannot live in captivity, I know. Actually, I wasn't focused on a particular genre, I just used a general expression(Marine Mania).
however, there are many more shark species that can be added to the game. but, Let's not forget that the main focus of this game is not aquariums(I'm not saying that aquariums and zoos are separate things). so if a marine expansion pack comes out, we shouldn't expect too many species. :)

I think Lemon Shark is also one that does pretty well in captivity. (at least so I've heard)

I think Aquarium or semi-aquatic animals is still a possible DLC, especially considering the amount of requests.
I think most people would be happy with such a DLC. That would be something that would create a very new refreshing look to your zoo.

Any big expansion could be anything. But a big conservation based DLC from all biomes/continents with +20 animals and basic/traditional building pieces would be my preference.
(really depends on the next couple of DLC)

Marine/Aviary DLC are 2 of the most requested big expansions. If Frontier wants do a big expansion, that would be the easiest way to please a lot of fans/players.

Absolutely. I totally agree with what you say.
In zoos, aquariums have been a great source of inspiration. So, at some points, aquariums are indispensable in zoos, and birds are also. When they complement each other, something wonderful comes out, sea animals, birds, land animals... a wonderful trilogy... :)
Off-topic: Therefore, I do not find it right to keep aquariums and zoos separate. After all, both are animal theme parks. and you cannot call a "water zoo" to a park that only contains aquatic animals. so these two themes are the same for me.
As you said, if Frontier was going to make big expansion pack, he should definitely choose these two. I don't think it would be much of a problem for packs containing other land animals to be offered as DLC. because the most requested expansion pack are birds and sea animals and these are not packages that can be limited to 3-4 animals. If the expansion package is to be made, these two themes should definitely be done. It is not possible not to make the players happy with these packages. :)
I don't know about birds, but marine animals is an expansion pack with the potential to be sold for almost a separate game price, as long as there is a big pack.
Yes, the easiest way to please the players is these two expansion packs, but we have talked about this many times before and technical problems need to be solved first.
A shark just swimming on the surface of the water would be really weird. 😂
Hopefully Frontier will contact the players more often and at least tell us that "we're working on the animals' diving system."
Lemon sharks are a very common type of captivity. I could not find a clear list of shark species that were really kept in captivity. I wonder which species are kept in captivity and which are not. The fact that great whites cannot live in captivity but that whale sharks do has always remained a question mark in my mind(I think the biggest reason for this is vital functions.). On top of that, I haven't researched much, but it is said that whale sharks are successfully bred in captivity.

Same here, did try to find a list but not much info on that one.

Yeah, I ignore that fact nowadays. To me, if people have a request for an animal/theme - they also mean the supporting game mechanics to be implemented.
If people expect this to be the next DLC, that argument should be mentioned again.

I like to think they would apply JWE logic at some point. They had a big expansion/DLC with the Back To Jurassic Park DLC. (i consider that one a big one - compared to the other DLC). So hopefully somewhere between 1-2 years after launch date a big DLC
But we just have to wait and see :D
