A bit disappointed you can’t destroy Capital Ships - they just fly off at 0%

Dropped into a conflict zone, picked a side, a friendly Conda drops in followed by an enemy Farragut.

They’re keeping each other busy so I park up in an advantageous position and, after about 15 minutes or so, get the hull down to 0%

Nothing happens. I off.

Hmmm ... there was something about heat relays, so I fly back to a high conflict zone until I find another Farragut, drop the hull to 0% and then take all 8 of the relays out too.

Covas says something about a massive energy spike, I get gently pushed back a bit so I thrust clear, and the Farragut vanishes into hyperspace.

Bit disappointed with that to be honest. I have saved the video in case it’s of any use - here’s the first one, I haven’t uploaded the one where I took out the relays: https://youtu.be/JLL84S6-zig

Anybody else tried / failed this before?

Given how the game works, having the same cap-ship
in multiple instances, getting killed multiple times by
a multitude of CMDRs is just wrong.
So i understand FD there.

But if we had campaigns that led to stages,
with wings and solo CMDRs working towards
a common goal or against it.
Which would be leading to cap-ship
or mega-ship raids and their final battles including destructions
with increased instance sizes, so more can participate,
that'd be glory days.

Capital ships need a serious buff. A single player, even with all the allied NPCs in a CZ, should barely be able to scratch them. Right now it’s like taking on a battleship in a speedboat and winning.

You obviously missed the documentary where Luke blows up the huge space station with a dinky X-Wing.

A mere ant frigate gonna take out a cap ship. I'll have 12 of what ever your drinking.

As has been pointed out above there is zero chance a fleet of frigates would take out a cap.

I think the current situation with the caps is just another place holder for future gameplay and something nice to look at and mess about with until then.

I dare say with space legs the drop ships will be put to use so we can drop troops on to the caps and destroy or commandeer them from the inside.

Kinda like a single lucky torpedo dropped by an obsolete biplane essentially dooming the Bismarck, or a couple of jihadis with a fiberglass dinghy who blew a 15*20 meter hole in the side of the USS Cole?

Out of commission for 14 months due to an attack that could have been carried out with less money than I spent on the joysticks I play ED with:

Regardless, if capital ships are to be invulnerable, it should be because their escorts don't let anyone near them, and the security procedures in place to restrict access to them are near bulletproof, not because they have no weak points.

The video in OP reminds me of the Space stations that for some reason had less than 100% health.

It would make sense that these large weapon platforms had longer ranges and a "flak shield" to not let enemy fighters near them, but both seem to be designed as action scene locations similar to the megaships or installations first. Still a bit odd that two battlecruisers would stay next to each other and unable to force a retreat without player help.
