A Call To Action For Traders In Imperial Space! Gliese 724.2 needs your help!

Friends, understand that I am not a political man. In the wake of the attempt upon the life of our great Emperor, I have taken no side in the power struggles that have caused discord across the Empire.

I am but a simple merchant, a trader, and I seek fortune where I can find it.

But today, I stand before you with a plea. One of the Empire's most profitable trade routes is now threatened by one figure in particular - Zemina Torval. Certainly, Torval appears a proponent of tradition and commerce, ostensibly a friend to merchants, but she often does more harm than good to us. Allow me to explain.

In systems to which Zemina Torval extends her influence, the price of the Empire's most lucrative commodity - Imperial slaves - falls dramatically. For a trader who is buying slaves at one of the systems under her control, this is excellent. It follows, therefore, that in order to make the highest profit, there must be a system nearby that is not under her control, one which presents a strong, stable market for this commodity.

One of the most popular and stable trade routes of late, not just in Imperial space, but in the entire galaxy, has been the route between the Apurui system, and Gliese 724.2. Apurui is a system under the political influence of the honourable Zemina Torval, and Gliese 724.2, only 20.75 light years away, is a system that has, thus far, remained neutral. Traders running this route can make as much as three thousand credits of profit per slave. Merchants throughout the Empire have seized this opportunity, and found their fortunes here.

But I fear this is not to last. On speaking with certain officials at Kopal Gateway, located in Gliese 724.2, I learned that supporters of Zemina Torval have been taking steps to spread her influence within the system. Without your intervention, it will soon fall entirely under her control. The profit on Imperial slaves will be nullified, and their esteemed services will lose value. Do not allow this to happen. Whether you side with Denton Patreus, or Arissa Lavigny-Duval, do your part to help keep Gliese 724.2 out of the hands of Zemina Torval - And secure your future profits.

Ahh... so the dumb milkrunners are going to start to destroy a good trading route themselfs again after they successfully did it with Jeterait. My condolocenses - really. But i am afraid we can't do much about it. Neither is this system in any way interesting for our future expansions., nor do those doing that act in the interest of Torval. Whoever wants to act against them, feel free to do so. And if you feel like it, ask the Gods aka FD to give us an active Preperation Vote system where we are also able to actively decline a system be become an expansion system.

To speak out of character for a minute, this could not have come at a worse time. Yesterday, when playing Elite, my computer short-circuited and died. I will likely be needed to replace the motherboard, and I cannot afford to for a long while. The laptop on which I am typing this post is only barely capable of running Elite. With its integrated intel graphics, it can run the game on the lowest settings, heavily downsampled - At about 6 FPS. I can still trade with this thing, but it's a slow, painful, and frustrating experience. I had been about ten days of trading away from acquiring a fully-outfitted combat-ready anaconda, with the best upgrades in the game, but that goal now seems out of my reach for the forseeable future. So if anyone is willing to help preserve this trade route, I would be very grateful.

Chillax. There are tons of other trade routes out there, rivalling this one in profitability or even exceeding it, if you look carefully enough. Don't torture yourself just for a unnecessarily expensive hull upgrade that won't protect your power plant properly. If this trade route won't get you it, another will. Or better: you will earn this last upgrade in an otherwise fully upgraded Conda.

Oh my, thats really bad then. I hope you will be able to replace your MB as soon as possible then!

Thanks for the kind words, folks. I can only hope that when I can finally return to ED in earnest on a PC that can actually run it, which I anticipate being no sooner than the end of summer, I can finally find a way to make a lot of money.
