A Commander Joins the void in Force

I had dreamed of flying through the stars all my life. From my window on Eranin, I’d look up and dream about the stars, the void, and life beyond. I was the one lucky day that propelled my life forward; the day when I became one of many who won a lottery for a free sidewinder, complete with lifetime insurance on it. I immediately took it up to the stars to explore the new worlds that have unfolded within my reach.
I then learned it was not necessarily and easy life. Your ship is your home, and space is often lonely. While still needing to pay for basic needs of myself and my ship, I knew I’d have to start making money. I jumped between the few systems my un-upgraded sidewinder could reach, I walked the many spaceports, and frequented the pilot bars. I heard rumors of pirates and marauders in a nearby Anarchy system, known for its gold deposits, laying waste to transport vessels and taking as much of their cargo as they can…leaving the rest floating in space. I wasn’t a transport vessel, and only had a small cargo in a small ship. I can sneak in, grab some of the unclaimed gold, and get back to sell it to the station. I knew it was dangerous, but the risk was worth the reward. That is where the money is and I must follow.
I jumped into the next system, and after much searching the scanners, I dropped from supercruise. My hopes were dashed when I found just wreckage without any loot to be had. This went on and on until my fuel was getting too low. I’d either have to find something soon or work at the spaceport, not flying ships, to pay for my food and fuel. I recalibrated my scanners, really trying to dial it in to weed out the unnecessary signals and dropped into another spot. Low and behold, there was gold! Enough to fill my cargo hold too. After returning to port and selling my claim, I made many more trips. No, scavenging is not high quality, highly respectable work, but it more than paid the bills while being able to fly and it was where the money was at.
Just before the system security shut down the whole operation, I was able to save up enough for a Cobra MkIII plus some upgrades! With the larger jump range, the whole galaxy has opened up to me. I then did many jobs. Most of them were hauling cargo as a trader when I felt I really wanted to earn my bucks. I also did a lot of bounty hunting, which was very exciting, but the payout wasn’t as high as other jobs. I’d do that when bored, but always fell back to where the money was. I worked my way up to a Type-7, and Type-9, really making the big bucks.
One day while looking through a magazine, I saw her: Imperial Clipper. That ship has class, style, speed, and firepower. I knew that was the ship I wanted. Having not truly allied myself with one of the superpowers before, I was a bit nervous to join the Imperial Navy, but that’s what I had to do to get my hands on this beauty. I did many trading runs and combat missions, making plenty for the Clipper and necessary upgrades. As I passed through the ranks, I learned just how truly great the Empire truly was. These were people I can relate to, and would be glad to associate with.
I finally got my Clipper, and boy was she everything I dreamt of. It was certainly time to bask in her glory. I did not stop doing missions for the Empire though; I had become a devout follower and wanted them to do well in their struggle with the Federation and Alliance. I was having fun, flying throughout the galaxy in my beautiful spaceship, shooting the bad guys, running some cargo, and exploring new places.
Soon the Superpowers split up into separate Powers, run by different leaders. I knew if I wanted to stay committed to the Empire, I should choose a side, but who to follow? That’s when I first saw her. I ran an escort mission for Lady Aisling Duval. From my cockpit, I could see her in the bridge of her ship, so beautiful and fair yet commanding authority. She was perfect in every way and I immediately fell for her. I immediately pledged my support for her but knew I had to work my ranks in the Empire to get her to just notice me; she is a Princess after all. It was soon after that when they released the Imperial Cutter for personal buyers. I knew that if I am to make an impression on the beautiful Aisling, it had to be done in that ship for there is no other that compares to its strength, beauty, and class. I had a long ways to go to be able to afford it plus all of the upgrades necessary to get it into formidable shape. I headed to Robigo after a tip-off from a friend. The system is somewhat far out there, apparently only 2.8% of haulers of all kinds ever even bother going out there. Slave smuggling was the game while and it wasn’t easy nor respectable, that’s where the money was…and I made a boatload.
I made enough to buy the Cutter. With such a spacious and versatile ship, I knew this could be my home for a long time to come, plus she looks gorgeous. I grew tired of smuggling though and took a break for some time. Buying the ship was only halfway to what I needed; upgrading it was another beast in itself. I scoured the galaxy for rare materials and for the hidden Engineers who had the brilliance and skill to use them to create great modifications for my ship. In the meantime, I customized the look of my Cutter, giving her a new make-over and her own identity. It was time to name her. With her curves, the pulse purple paint, and new spoiler and front baffles, she looks beautiful yet powerful, curvy yet with a bite. I would call her nothing else than Aurora. The Battlecutter Aurora, after upgrading the weaponry, fit for duty. After another stint in Robigo, this time to take advantage of rich tourists, I was able to fully outfit her with the best of the best components to my heart’s content. She is perfect, worthy of fear from my enemies and respect from my allies. I am ready and it is time.
This brings me to the present day and my message for you. All those who stand to oppose the perfectly beautiful Aisling Duval and her followers, prepare to meet a stiff resistance. Though my love may not yet know me, she soon will hear of the Commander who fights tooth and nail to defend and expand her territory in the most respectable, bask-ful ship there is. For Aisling! For the Empire!
