A community question: Would you like a PIRATE cg?

Would you like a pirate cg?

Ahoy lads,
i have this one question:
Would you like a pirate cg, like in having to steal stuff in PvE (as PvP piracy is bugged recently)?

We have had combat, mining, trading and exploration cgs,
but where is the cg for piracy?
I have an idea on a cg, that i might come up with in the next week(s).

Yes! And a high payibg one too but it would have to ensure you cannot pirate the same commander twice of there will be cheaters

Pirating CMDRs currently is bugged and reported, same with mining in wings,
stuff does disintegrate if a player leaves, limpets go crazy too.
Thus the idea of PvE piracy, to showcase this is a means of making money, too,
while being totally polarized as any ingame task.

Would love one. Piracy takes a bit more skill than just pew-pew or deliveries.

And we as a community have a benefit of it aswell,
apart from money, we get the chance to showcase that piracy has become paying, too,
and is not let out of the cg ramifications that pay insanely well.

PVE Piracy is annoying like hell. Tryed it for missions and let us say...i didn't expected this!

-they never surrender and give the cargo on their own to you
-shooting helps sometimes for the weaker ones but not always
-shooting thrusters will make them spinning like crazy and drifting away at high speed because of "let us boost one more time"! This maked every cargo they drop uncollectable since it spreads like over the complete system -.-'
-disabling powerplant and afterwards the cargohatch doesn't work. In this case no cargo drops
-hitting only the cargohatch without destroying the target or before it flees is NOT FUNNY
-without specific missions the cargo isn't even worth the ammunition
-NPC's cheat!

As far as i like the idea of a Pirate CG, i would never participate unless it is just no fun for me, it's just like hell. Robbing NPC's was one of the worsest ideas i had in Elite. Closely followed by Robbing other cmdrs. They just log :(

Sadly IMO Piracy is just broken in ED and needs fundamentality improvements before i ever try it again.

But beside this issues, i wish you all luck to get one and have fun with it if you wanna ;)
I can't imagine one single reason why FDev shouldn't do it :)

Didn't we have a piracy CG in the Dangerous Games (week 2 CG here ).
I enjoyed that one quite well, because it really required some skill. However, the RNG made it grindy to find the right cargo.

That is known and a problem yes.

If the pp is 0% and you start on the hatch, it needs to drop below 80% module health,
from that point onwards malfunctions can happen, use either a low powered c1 beam laser,
pulsing it for minimal damage (every 3-5 hits is a malfunction), or use hatchbreakers.
They work on disabled ships and are a good addition, that still needs refinement to make
bigger sized HBCs valuable, as suggested before.

Even without specific mission the cargo is worth it,
all you need to do is to locate the real deals and know
how to work the system in your favour:)
Hints given:p

Such a CG would heavily depend on RNG Gods sending the right cargo your way. Besides, you'll lose your rep with locals and will get a bounty for assaulting ships (unless it's Anarchy)
Someone might enjoy it, though.

It would somewhat depend on ships spawn,
there won't be much more hassle as with bounty cgs without belts
to pop into, if the commodity is chosen well;)

I'm not into Piracy but it needs a LOT of work to flesh out that "career" choice.

It needs dedicated bases (we know this is possible because of "Engineers")
These bases need to have specialist equipment for Piracy (emphasis on disabling and stealing as much cargo as possible)
The base can intercept communications of "juicy" convoys and put them on the bulletin board as missions that range from no escorts and low payout cargo, to many escorts and high payout cargo.
There could also be "defend the base" missions, from the authorities or bounty hunters and those could be CGs as well with the chance the base could be destroyed (then have a CG to build a new base somewhere).

FD really need to put more thought into the "careers" (not just piracy) and put in interesting missions for people to do.

I've always wondered how a CG to collect Hafnium 178 would go (only available by pirating the fairly common Threat 4 USS convoys)

That is actually a pretty neat idea for a commodity, if one would want to stage a terrorism cg
to threaten some officials building bombs, right?
