A contact in stations to free slaves in the future, as in SAR, please

I really love the new search and rescue contact in stations. How many future possibilities!

I really like since original beta, that the game would had some mechanic, to free slaves. Great work FD! but please think about do the same work as in SAR, to let us free slaves. Thanks!

Absolutely, been asked for since lauch!

Add a way to buy these slaves before they are freed so I can take them to a place that pays more, or simply trade them to thargoids.

I agree So far all I've been able to do is run silent into a Federal station, jettison the slaves, and bug out fast before I'm caught. I also feel there should be some kind of insensible to attract more people to the practice.

If you jettison slaves do they not become occupied pods that can be rescued?

Or is it "Once a slave - always a slave"
How does it go? "We do not know that we are not free, because we lack the language to articulate our unfreedom." -
Slavoj Zizek.

I hope that our escape pods are a tad more robust than the cargo canisters we cram the slaves into.

The old Elite, if you scooped an escape pod it was automatically converted into slaves. Slaves could also be converted into animal meat or fertiliser if you took too long to deliver them.

how will you handle imperial slaves? if they are freed before their term of indentured service the debt they owe becomes due and most will kill themselves out of shame being unable to live with the dishonour of being unable to honour their debts.

Same as any slaves - roughly, but not too roughly.

This idea is mainly aimed to illegal slaves, but some notes should be done about problems and corruption around imperial slavery. Imperial laws in lore are not fully respected in the Empire's frontier. In game there are an old really profitable imperial slave trade routes from Empire to other powers or independents. The debt system of the Imperial Slaves that were originally developped to protect the poorest, have fallen in corruption. Through criminal accusation some local authorities, like Torval, and cinical and intended empoverishment of the low citizenship, they send citizens to slavery. And then unscrupulous governors and traders send them throughout the galaxy, illegally, careless and without protection.

This is the part of the legal slavery that's usually omitted from Imperial pro-slavery viewpoints. It's technically better than regular slavery, kind of like execution by firing squad is preferable to death by burning.

As far as game mechanics go however, there should be the full range of options to deal with escape pods, from saving people, to slavery, to turning them into oldschool fertilizer and animal meat.

If you abandon the slaves in a station they are no longer on your ship, I sort of see it as people smuggling between Calais and Dover.

What am I missing?
