A cop when you need him...

So I was running gold from one system to another... short hop and making 10% profit for about 10 minutes of work for the round trip making about 42k per trip selling on a consumer planet that only exports turd canisters and hydrogen fuel. So I could only make cash coming into the system with gold.

On my run out to the anarchy system with an empty hold, I get jumped. It's a master level federal dropship... I should be no match for this thing, even though it's AI. He's wanted with a bounty worth 70k. I figure I have no chance in my cobra, I only carry lasers since most AI ships don't bother to fight me and I've never been jumped by a bigger ship that I couldn't run away from.

Well I figure I'd do a couple passes on the dropship to see if I can drop it's shields and do some damage.

I only take him head to head cause he's got some turrets that are getting me in a turning fight.

Well he tags me with a couple beams from his fixed lasers. I figure since this is an anarchy system, nobody's going to show up to my aid.

Well on the 3rd pass 3 new contacts show up and they immediately start scanning. I have no outstanding warrants. I afterburn out of range of the dropship and cycle through the new contacts.

Not 1 cop.

3 cops showed up.

The one cop finishes scanning both of us and they immediately turn green. Awesome, play it conservative and don't let these AI idiots fly through my line of fire to turn them against me and I'll collect the 70k bounty on the dumbass AI pilot.

The rest of the fight was pretty plain, nothing special, but in all the turning, I forgot to run my kill warrant scanner on him to see if he had other bounties... too bad... would've been nice to see if he was worth more.

Was nice of the server to give me an extra 70k in pay on my gold farming run. :p

And then on my return trip to the dock with my 40 tons of gold AND my 70k bounty that's uncollected, I completely forgot to get landing permission and flew right into the dock.

It took me 5 seconds to realize there was no bay lit for me, another 2 seconds to figure out what the red thing was on my screen, 3 seconds to try to request permission INSIDE the dock only to find out you can't do that.... and then 10 seconds to turn the ship around from a dead stop and get out of the dock before the stupid dock blew me out of the sky.

Made it out with 2 seconds on the clock.

Think that's enough playing for today. lol.

Been doing cargo all day making not bad money and then at the end find this gold running job with only a single 7LY jump... made 600k today and tomorrow should be a lot faster with just running gold.

You want to hear something funny? I've intradicted in an anarchy system to bounty hunt, and had security vessels show up from the local faction to scan us while we fought, and then leave. I bet they're dirty cops too :)

lol... yeah I had my hardpoints pulled in faster than an outie turns into an innie in a cold pool. I was ready to book it when they flipped over to green.

Great. Story! But man, I cannot believe how many pilots forget to request docking permission.
I know a lot of those are attributed to alcohol induced flying, but still...
