Newcomer / Intro A couple of newbie questions

Hi all,

First post so please be gentle.

1. Is there a way to see at a glance how many LY your can fly without refuelling? I can see the current jump range but not the total range.

2. When you see the ships that have passed through a station in the last 24 hours, is that NPC and PC or just PC?

3. Can someone please explain why you have to sell all cargo before you can buy a new ship, especially if you are not trading in?!

Cheers...

1. not really as shorter jumps use less fuel, if you want a rough idea target the furthest system you can jump too and it shows a marker on your fuel gauge of how much you will use.

2. just PC ships

3. storage of cargo is not permitted by the game to prevent market abuse, its not something you could do in a starter ship but some of the larger vessels can hold 500 tonnes and dumping the content of a few of those on the market at once would see the prices go through the floor. also it could be used to store rare commodities and build up a stock of them while you continue to trade, selling 500 tonnes of rares all in one go would net you 10 million profit at a time and would be a bit of a cheat.

P.S. we are always gentle on this forum, if someone isn't report them using the report post function on the bottom right ;)

Hi, jump range depends on how much you abuse it, big jumps use more fuel. Just like a real car, it can guess your range, but if you flog it, you wont get that far.

Going to assume its all ships, npc and players, the hot trading places and docks near story systems always have high traffic

They just dont want to store you ship with cargo in it, who wants to store a ship full of slaves for years in storage.

fuel scoop for those embarrassing moments , cobras are the v8 mustang of space fuel wise traffic has to be npc cause i rarely see humans

The number of ships that have passed through any particular station, as listed in the news feed, are human player ships (no NPCs). This was confirmed by one of the programmers in another thread a while ago.
