Hi I have been thinking about buying this game soon but before I do I have a few questions for you.

1) Can you play this game Offline or is it forced always Online? I mean can ya play offline like the other Elite Games?

2)If there is no Offline play can you play Solo? I mean like Diablo 3 where unless you allow it you can play solo and no one ever bothers you.

3) Is there forced PvP? I mean are there PvP and PVE Servers? I hate PvP so I would pick the PvE servers if any,or a switch that you can auto decline any PvP requests.

4) Is there a Demo or a Free to Play version?

You can't play offline, unfortunately, but there's indeed a Solo mode, where you will be the only human player in the universe.
The bonus here is that the same character [for the lack of better word] may be used for both Solo and Multiplayer game, so you won't have to work on progressing two otherwise identical character. Whether you choose a Solo game or a multiplayer mode, you shall resume where you left off.
Since you fly in a single persistent universe, which has no concept of "shards", you cannot pick PVP vs. PVE server. If you are in a multiplayer game, there are no rules.

No, you cannot play offline - you must have an active internet connection (although not much bandwidth) to play, even in Solo.

Yes, you can play solo, where no other players will be around - only NPCs.

In Open Play PvP can be forced on you at any time. However, you usually have a lot of options - and PvP is actually pretty rare.

4) Is there a Demo or a Free to Play version?

No demo as of yet.

There is always an online component due to the need for dynamic market updates among other things.

Yes, yes you can play solo and not worry about other live players bugging you.

It is a single world, no split servers so to speak. Right now, if you want to associate with others who don't want to PvP then you need to join a group that is focused on PvE. Look in the groups section and you can find a couple of them.

4) Is there a Demo or a Free to Play version?

There was a combat simulator you could download, I don't see it on the main website so I don't know. Lots to watch on youtube and twitch to get an idea about it though.

1) Online only.

2) You can play solo if you like, and many people prefer it. I choose what I play (Open Play vs Solo) based on how much time I have to play, and what I'm trying to accomplish. I think both are good. Open play has more of a realistic feel based on the real people you get to play with/strive against, but I wouldn't judge.

3) I hate PvP too, and Open play is more PvP based on both the people who play to what they intend (I like this) and the people who only want to suck the enjoyment out of other people's experience (I don't like this). Pirates, I like fine. People who just want to be jerks, I do not. I still play Open Play 95% of the time though.

4) There is not either of those things, but I do run a Twitch channel where people can watch, judge and ask questions. I'm a trader and explorer by vocation, and bounty hunter by necessity. If you are interested, I try to post my streaming sessions in the newcomers forum. There are things about the game that people prefer to see instead of being told about. I warn you, it's usually pretty boring, as I am a trader, but sometimes, it gets exciting.

A Miner - Is there different types of Ore like EvE Online? what would the mined stuff be used for? is there crafting in the game yet? and do the fields get used up then reseeded later like EvE Online?

A Explorer - Can you explore in peace and is there cool stuff to find like Nebulae,Binary Stars,Pulsars,Comets,Black Holes etc? I hope so there is 4 Billion Stars in game
Curious can you explore Planets? I mean land on them like in the old Elite games or was it Frontier First Encounters,can't remember

Is there dedicated ships like a mining ships,Trader and Explorer? Can you have more than one ship?

1. No, they let us know they canned it a few weeks before launch.
2. Online solo play is an option. No human players will be visible to you, but apparently they can affect your 'galaxy'.
3. That's your online solo mode.
4. No 'free' demo AFAIK.

Dont know about trading, I avoid it like the plague.

Yes different types of ore. They "reseed" as soon as you leave the area and warp back in, so not like EVE where other players can exhaust it, and have to wait for an overnight / weekly reseed.

No crafting, and no discussion of adding it, I think this is unlikely to occur in Elite (personal guess only)

Yes can explore, can be in peace in Solo, or out of the way places you'll likely never see a player. Yes, nebulae, black holes. No to landing on planets, is a planned paid expansion in a year or so at a guess for timeline (couldnt land on planets in first Elite either, that was the later ones!)

Ships are better suited to certain roles but not dedicated like EVE with specific role bonuses - just weight, speed, max cargo bays that can be fitted, etc - so it's all in the outfitting. Some allow better outfitting for one role than another.

EDIT PS yes more than one ship,as many as you like. You have to fly to it though, no ship moving, teleporting, taxi service, or clones warps!

I have a stick its the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro,I would never try to play a game like this without a stick lol.

It's getting easier to find trading routes. Until recently, the NPC traders have been a touch too efficient, which meant that it was hard to find high profit routes, but they've been scaled back. Trade routes can theoretically dry up - or at least flatten out to the point where they're worthless, but unless you're in a high traffic area this isn't too likely.

Will I need a larger ship to have a refinery on board? I have the very first ship at the moment. Was hoping to start mining right away.

I found where i can get a mining laser but not sure where to find the Refinery.

I don't think so, although you won't have much cargo space to hold all your minerals! I was able to fit a refinery into a Hauler which is only slightly bigger than a Sidewinder, and has the same sized equipment bays if I remember correctly.

I think you have no internal bays left on a stock Sidewinder. You could ditch the basic discovery scanner I suppose.
