hi there. i'm wondering about a couple of random things about this game and well, maybe some of you can shed some light...
1.) when i select the "sector map" from within the cockpit and leave that view again, i always get presented with the "galaxy map" in turn which i have to leave again to get back to my cockpit again. feature? bug? me just being stupid? or just all of it?
2.) sometimes when i choose a destination from the galaxy map, i'm not able to plot a route to it, however, when i travel to just one system somewhere else left or right, i'm all of a sudden able to plot a route to that destination (that in some rare cases even wants me to tavel back to system i just came from) but due to long jump distances, can't complete the route anyways without refueling! i just don't get the ideal behind that. is any of you guys able to elaborate on this one? again some kind of "pebkac"?
3.) i was looking for a system with "high tech stations" yesterday and found myself wandering for nearly 20 minutes with the mouse cursor from system to system on the galaxy map because i knew, i have visited a couple of those before. i'm aware of the possibility to draw trade routes between systems on the galaxy map but that didn't get me any further either. what i don't get is the following: i've visited around 100 systems by now and the "galaxy map" even tells me by hovering over a system what kind of economy is going on in there and furthermore, i can even present myself with a view about the inner details of that system, not to speak about each individual station details found within it, so how can it be that i haven't found a way to e.g.: "show me all system with high tech i know about and visited before" or "where are all the black markets i have visited"? am i blind? or again just plain dumb? i'm just not to fond of the idea to note every piece of detail myself (whether it's pen and paper or excel; i already have such a job in real life
) even though that beast of tech under my table is more than just capable of doing that by itself (which it already does; in fact, it does rember everything about where i've been and what's there but hovering about a star map searching for some certain detail seems more like a hassle to me). actually, i'd love to have a fully functional board computer with details like "systems i have visited; last prices noted; good sold and bought; a distance calculator; a notebook; a boomark system" but that's something frontier development would have to take care of, so you can't help me with that anyways...
4.) it makes me plain crazy the the "pip-settings" (sys/eng/weap) always reset after leaving a station back to "normal". i put all to the engine while traveling around and fleeing from others and like em to stay there until i decide different from that but then again: i dock and depart from a station and i'm again stuck at 170 where 250 would be possible. is there any way to make at least "a chosen pip arrangment" sticky for as long as i want it to be like that?
5.) i try to send messages to others for the sake of socializing and while waiting to dock to a station and i'm wondering if it's really necessary to scan each and every ship by hand before you get them as a "named commander" from the drop down list from the chat menu. people tell me all the time that they wanted to say "hi" back earlier but they had to find and scan me first. not sure if you get what i'm talking about but i'm trying anyway.
thanks for any hints you might be having for me.
